For my sanity, pray that Bayern wins tomorrow (heavily) and stays healthy.  They are all that can stop Hippo’s Darkest Lesser Timeline now.  And you don’t want me shooting up this here nice clubhouse.  DO YOU??

Prediccion (fix mah spelling): 4-1 – because this world is a cold, unfeeling place where the worst human behaviour is regularly rewarded.

Balls: While I agree with Hippo’s assessment of the world and human behaviours,  there are bright rays of sunshine that sometimes pop up.

Imagine,  if you will,  a world where Roma gets into the Champions League final at the expense of Liverpool. And then get properly trounced in the Final by one of two powerhouse sides.

Ratings fall to an all-time low and this accelerates the process of the creation of a European Super League featuring all the top clubs.  Relegation means going back to the individual domestic leagues.

Yeah,  I know.  But it’s nice to dream.

Prediction: A 2 -1 Liverpool win that leaves Roma with a decent chance to take the tie at home on away goals.  Just like with Barcelona.

Litre_Cola: I am actually quite pleased that the ping pong balls came out this way. Reminds me of a time in Patpong at a “club” called Super Pussy, but I digress. These are the match-ups I wanted because I wanted to see Bayern play Real twice and I really hope Liverpool gets knocked out by Roma so the fairy tale continues. I have a soft spot in my heart for Roma due to my respect for Totti back in the day and his crazy passion for his club. I also believe that Dzeko kind of got a raw deal at Manchester City and love that he is further along than his old club.

Salah is great to watch, Klopp is one of the best managers in Europe add to that Liverpool plays really skilled futbol and their class will be too much for the Romans.

Balls, I read yours and that idea is fucking brilliant but money talks and you and I know the domestic leagues would never release their huge clubs to a European league instead of their own due to tv money etc. Sadly this is what we got but having said that Leicester won the English League so we should get behind Roma.

Prediction: 1-1 just to make it interesting the next leg.

Don T: I wanted Barcelona to be here and I’ve written too much dismissive shit about AS Roma. And yet, the 3-0 clincher in Rome was outstanding: Messi, Suárez and co. were overwhelmed and looked like a buncha little guys being crowded and running around aimlessly. This is argument #1 against a Super League; marquees pinning the Real Madrids with the Bayerns, ManUres, Juves, and PSGs look great and will get ratings. Still, unfathomable upsets (like Iceland – England in the last Euros) and scorching hot streaks (e.g., Wayne Rooney in a Rogaine brothel) are the stuff that make fútbol unparalleled as a sport.

HOWEVAH, AS Roma ain’t chopped liver. Goalie Allison is great, Nainggolan is a beast, and Edin Dzeko has been on a tear in the knockouts–his goal while boxing out kiut widdle grabber Jordi Alba was funny AF. And DeRossi may be getting old, but he’s been the flagbearer of traditional Italian scumbaggery on the pitch.  Not a bad core, but never like the embarrassment of talent in the Catalonian side. Such overachievement can only credit the manager, Eusebio Di Francesco. With additional success, his career may emulate the fella at the other side: Jürgen Klopp.
