Dick hasn’t been removed from posting

I looked at the news today. One columnist was telling me that bro-nazis were overrunning the country. Seemingly hiding in every shrub and hedge like the hunch-backed commie of yesteryear.

The next pointed out that a nominally major national party used a study classifying anyone who discusses immigration levels in any way as a card carrying Aryan brother to make a story about 300 racist groups in Canada. Not that they’d name them, of course.

The next story told me a tale of disgusting behaviour by spitting anti vaxxer scum running roughshod over science and reason. Splitting the heads of scientists for their craven lust of mayhem.

The next one mentioned everchanging and contradictory requirements seemingly plucked out of nowhere, police tasing teenagers in parks for playing basketball alone and pulling people over for the crime of being outside their home at 9 pm. Care homes turned into graveyards with no action taken other than to restrict youth hockey games to regional-only play.

What action could be taken to fight the either insurmountable or meaningless threat that was surely breathing down my neck? 

Turn off the news. Delete your apps. Just fucking forget it. I don’t know who voted for what. I don’t know what new outrage is being perpetrated. I’m not crouching over a screen, worrying about decisions I cannot change.

And I’m happy. I read books. I watch old movies. I don’t care about politics and I sure as fuck don’t care about celebrities or athletes. They don’t matter. They wouldn’t mourn you  

Do it. Join me, sisters and brothers.  Live real life. You don’t matter. I don’t matter. Your only responsibility is to enjoy your life and no matter who gets what senate seat your life will not change.

You know how I know I’m right? You might ignore me and watch some hearing or read about some government thing soon. You’ll have an opinion. And you’ll think about for a while. Hours, days. But no matter what your opinion won’t change shit.

At the same time, during the same event, I’ll be free of any worry because I won’t care and I know I can’t change it. Suck on that, nerd.
