Personally, I’m still reeling from my somewhat questionable decision to screen Big Trouble in Little China last night (my wife lasted a half hour before she bailed to go watch a subtitled Korean drama called “Oh, My Venus!” (not to be confused with “Oh, My Ghostess!”, the former is about a woman who was hot shit in high school but is now an overweight lawyer who falls in love with a MMA coach who is also the heir to a vast corporate conglomerate, the latter is about a girl who died a virgin and became a horny ghost who possesses the body of a shy dishwasher and falls in love with a famous but prickly restaurant chef).  I am expecting a nice, quiet…

…Independence Day.  We might go for a hike around sundown and see if any fireworks are visible from Griffith Observatory.  Otherwise I’ll be nursing a hangover and a shoulder injury and maybe (definitely) watching some TV and grilling a steak.  Here’s to America, and here’s to hoping all of you out there have a fun and safe holiday.  Just 65 days left until the NFL season kicks off.  We’re gonna make it.  I can feel it.
