Gotta admit to you folks-I thought I was past hangovers. That’s not the case. Wooooo? Obviously hair of the dog has been engaged and it’s almost working (unlike me). I’ve taken in Bridge of Spies and my hot take(s) is 1.) apparently black folks were vacationing from 1957-63-good for them!. It’s about time that Every Single One of them were able to get away for a bit, and 2.) well-crafted movies are mistaken for ‘good’ movies and it’s driving me round the Tim Horton’s Drive-Thru bend. Everyone knows that principled folks get vilified, undercut, silenced, mocked, pensioned off, sent to metaphorical Siberia or otherwise disposed of. That’s the way it is. Also, this Donavan lawyer protagonist guy had a documented intelligence background.
[tries to regain composure] The NBA trots out one only game worth the visual, 34-16 Raptors against the 27-25 Pistons. The NHL, as usual, gives us the quality many times over-NJ/NYR, ANA/PIT. FLA/DET and TB/OTT are all aching for your (eye) balls. College features #13 Louisville and UNRANKED Duke. Also, #24 Texas takes on #3 Oklahoma. All-in-all, not a bad sportsy-type night. Just don’t type very loudly-the headache has not fully abated just yet…
It’s quiet in here…too quiet. Well, in case I pass out before Moose shows up, I’ll leave him these images I found of him in his high school years.
Anyway, I pay tribute to yesterday’s winners the best way I know how…
So I noticed this morning we’re down a co-worker. I ask another what’s the deal. So it turns out that during the SB aftermath, the absent co-worker–hammered like a bat full of nails–drunktexts the boss. “I’m not coming in tomorrow because the Broncos won and I’m celebrating.” This is not received well, apparently, but no further explanation is given.
This morning, he calls in at 11am, having just woken up and wondering why he has 15 missed calls and a text saying “if you don’t show up Monday, turn in your ID badge on Tuesday.”
Luckily, he’s union. U-S-A! U-S-A!
Union or not, that’s a shitty reason to get fired. If he had an assignment that was due Monday or something else important, maybe, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.
IMHO, the boss is a dick.
You’re correct about boss being a dick…he can throw some nasty tantrums. I agree the employee shouldn’t be fired, at worst a final writeup and a day or two suspension…though he did cause a lot of extra work. Now, he was a tad argumentative with the assistant mgr (the “but everyone else does it” defense), but everyone else just lies at the outset, management knows they’re lies as they’re being lied to, and as long as they’re officially recorded lies everybody gets away clean. This guy told the truth, which is frowned upon!
Anyway, his punishment should probably be more severe than Tom Brady’s and less severe than THE BEN.
