One of the most anticipated and hyped games in recent memory, No Man’s Sky, came out this week for PS4 and PC, with…less than stellar results. While the PS4 version experiences some crashes, some PC gamers can’t even get it to start among other things. I’ve been really tempted to pick it up, as a procedurally generated galaxy of a quintillion worlds to explore looks and sounds amazing. Have you guys picked it up?
However, I think I can maintain enough willpower to resist buying it until it’s patched. What’s helping with that is watching the DOTA 2 International tournament I posted about last week. Today is the Grand Finals with the winning team taking home just over $8 million. WATCH IT LIVE! FEEL THE HYPE! WISH YOU’D MADE LIFE CHOICES THAT ENABLE YOU TO MAKE MILLIONS OF DOLLARS PLAYING VIDEO GAMES!
So Commentist Party, what’s getting your drive hard this week?
Got it for PS4. I’m about six hours in, and I’ve pretty much just been dicking around my first planet, finding aliens and upgrades and monoliths and learning languages and categorizing (and sometimes renaming) new species and plants and waypoints, with the occasional run to the nearest space station for a change in pace. There are at least three other planets in the current solar system I haven’t even yet set foot on because the first one is turning out to be so gigantic. It’s chill as hell and not hard to survive, and every so often I just stop and look around because in my field of vision is a forest in a valley as well as a nearby cave full of colorful rock formations and various striations of rock. I’ve been upgrading my backpack frequently so it can hold plenty of gear, and I’ve upgraded my multitool a whole bunch, not to mention I have a bunch of technologies I’ve discovered that I can put to use on it if I want to. All in all, I’m really enjoying it as a slower change of pace to more common game types, and as something I can just noodle around in for short or long periods but still make good progress. And it’s pretty. And I have a lot of space yet to explore. I’m hoping the creator lives up to his words about having long term plans for updating and adding things to it, as it seems perfectly suited for that sort of thing–probably modders on PC will also eventually figure out things to do with it, as they do.
Not going to play these, but I like the graphics all to hell.

Going to wait till they patch it up. I’ve been playing a lot of Rift (Guild is Door Flies Open on Faeblight server hopefully the DFO overlords don’t mind) in anticipation of the upcoming expansion. Also playing a bit of Path of Exile. MOO 2 is still my go to when extremely bored, but I wish they could do a tablet version.
Are DFO guilds a thing now? I’m all about killing dragons and shit with DFO-themed characters.
I just needed a guild name and I thought it would be interesting to see if anyone in game recognized the name.
And my main in Rift is named the same as here.
Slaying a dragon with long range spells as a character named SexCannon sounds amazing.
I tried, but Rift says the name is inappropriate, KingLazerFace worked though.

Watching dota should be familiar for traditional sports fans in that at least the commenters are fucking terrible
I’ve liked the game so far. The story is kinda loose but if you have a few hours to kill you can definitely find some fun in it. It’s a really pretty game as well. Idk if it’s worth the 60 I payed but it is fun nonetheless
Honestly, I haven’t done much gaming lately outside of the odd Lucioball matchup. That being said, I’ve preordered WoW Legion and am prepared for my bi-annual sacrifice of 6 months of my life.
