It was the earliest days of the innertubes. I somehow found a student at Duke that loved the Beastie Boys and knew about the French philosopher Gilles Deleuze. I contacted him and he responded! It was at that point that I knew computers might just amount to something.

I’d like to point out that once about every 8 months or so I’ll be listening to a Sirius music channel and hear something that the Beasties sampled for this album. It keeps on happening.
