DFO Radio: He Said She Said

Good day, fine people!  My weekend was marked by getting up early both mornings to watch some of the least compelling tennis you’ll ever see.  I’m perfectly happy for the Wimbledon champions, but I just wish things had been more competitive.  The most exciting thing that happened to me over the weekend was that I set up and tried our new Instapot and managed to burn myself during the test run of heating up some water.  Fortunately it wasn’t a bad burn, so I guess I learned something important at a fairly low cost.  My first meal with it was pork loin with a sweet balsamic glaze.  As Matt Ryan would say, it was “pretty good”.

So what did you think of the Game of Thrones premiere?  I thought it was fine; some perfectly competent table-setting for the upcoming season.  Sam’s shit-clean-eat sequence was rather annoying, but everything else was solid.  It looks plausible that they’re setting up Jon to meet Danerys at Dragonstone sometime in the future.  Please feel free to discuss in the comments – there’s not all that much in the way of SPOILERS but if you’re worried about that, you probably should avoid that space*.

Here’s the week’s tunes.  Here’s the Spotify link.

*also good advice if you are considering parking next to Kellen Winslow, Jr.

SPOILERS AHEAD:
Yeah, that Requiem for Sam Tarly’s Dream sequence got tiresome. (OMG chamberpots and plates are similar! Talk about ascetic.) Some stuff did happen, which is a good way to evaluate GoT eps. I do fear that Sam’s hazing / Chicken Little treatment will be dragged for its own sake, and he’ll leave after a character goes “But your training is incomplete!”

Sam: No biggie. I stole some books, Yod… erm, Professor Slugho–I mean, archmaester.

One cool thing about GoT: people who slam book learnin’ have bad stuff happen to ’em.
