Wednesday Motivational – Remember The Hard Times

Life is always going to give you some difficult stuff to deal with from time to time.  Yours, mine, everyone’s.  And some is more difficult than others.  Just depends on what day it is.

Some folks I know try to avoid that aforementioned “difficult stuff” and hope it goes away.  And then not deal with it.  Which only makes it worse in the long run.

A couple of months ago I wrote an entry in this post series which was subtitled “Deal With It“.  And you have to do that.  It has to be done.

But after that, don’t forget it.  Let it drive you.  Let it make you strive to….  Well to do whatever you want.  That’s up to you.  But you dealt with it.  Overcame it.

Now use it.

Adversity doesn’t build good character.  That’s a fallacy.  Good character gets you through adversity and helps you to make things better.  Both for yourself and everyone around you.

And never be afraid to ask for help if you need it.  Even if it’s just asking someone to listen.  There’s no shame in that.  Talking about things helps more than people think.  Even if some people might not be willing to help, most will be.

And you might get some feedback which will help you figure out how deal with your own stuff.

But always appreciate what you do have, even if it’s not all you want it to be in that moment.

Just don’t forget where you came from.  Or where you want to be.  You’ll get there.

When not parked in front of the computer and/or TV, can often be found on the golf course shouting obscenities to no one in particular.

Talking about things helps more than people think.

Even just saying things out loud to another person helps. That stupid thing you want to do that will blow up your life, it usually doesn’t sound so appealing after saying it aloud. One doesn’t even need to talk through to the possible/likely/certain consequences. I find it has a positive feedback effect, unlike letting something fester in your head, which causes the bad thoughts to grow like a cancer on Alex Guerrero’s treatments.
