Good morning we are back with another installment of Snaxx!
This one is 100% the Universal Yums Spain box as many of you are on the same delivery plan as I am. Going forward 1 post a month will be solely whatever we get in the mail.
I love Spain, I have visited a few times and apart from Real Madrid there is a whole lot that is kick ass about that country. Siestas? Yes, please. Small bits of food with your beer/wine? Oh hell yes. This brings me to my story of unexpected good times in Spain. I backpacked through Europe in 2000 (man I am old) and after 3 weeks in Morocco which is total sensory overload I ended up in Granada, Spain home to the Alhambra which is absolutely stunning.
The first thing you notice is the tranquility of the place next to the insanity that is Morocco. We grabbed some queso, jamon, and vino tinto and sat on those walls and just chilled. Backpack hack is that a plastic 2L bottle is 2 cups if you cut in half with your knife. This was lovely but to get back to Snaxx, in the city of Granada whenever you order a drink, you got free tapas. Free amazing food. Now as a budget backpacker this was absolute heaven. It meant I could eat AND get wasted for the same price as getting wasted. This city will always hold a special place in my heart for its beauty, tranquility and free tapas!

Lacasitos Gold
This is a white chocolate candy that’s incredibly sweet. They have the crispness and consistency of a Reese’s Pieces. These are mediocre at best, they’re kind of like cheap Easter candy. I’m pretty stoned right now, these things are pure sugar and I’m glad that there aren’t too many in the tube. This actually has the shell of what we up here call Smarties which to me are a crappier kind of M & M’s. What America calls Smarties are actually called Rockets up here and in school we used to flick them at each other using our binders as ramps. Either way they are both disappointing in my mind because M & M’s has that market down.
La Abuela Nieves Lemon and Black Pepper
I have found in these episodes that the folk around the Mediterranean love them some Black Pepper and Lemon snacks. From Egypt to Italy and now to Spain this is one of their things. These ones are very lemony and do not have much black pepper in them at all. If they had any black pepper Mrs. Cola wouldn’t be eating them and she is destroying the wee bag with me. “I like them a hell of a lot more than I thought I would.”.
These aren’t my favoUrite but they are quite good in small doses, luckily I have a glass of white wine right now and they are great together. If I was having a themed dinner which we do every month (starting again soon outdoors!) I would have these on the table while you are grilling up some Spanish treats.
Coniks Snack De Maiz – Sabor Queso and Bacon.
Oooh I’m excited by these. I really like Queso and Bacon both in true form and in their respective faux iterations. At 1st glance they look like a Bugle, and have no overpowering odoUr at all. I like these already as from time to time the nose on bacon snaxx is quite off-putting. They have a sweet and salty taste to them and they don’t go too far on the sweetness like some other cheesy Snaxx. I will say however this bag needs to be 10 times bigger, never mind the fact that half this bag is crushed (bloody mail system). I think I may use the dust as a rim for a Bloody Mary on the weekend, savoUry and delicious. I’ll keep you posted on that. We used to do a Caesar at the bar I worked at with a Doritos Cool Ranch Rim with air dried prosciutto and pickled asparagus. I am not normally a tomato/clamato juice cocktail guy but the savoUryness of this cocktail was unreal.
Vidal Gummi – Spicy Mangos
Dear readers we have a new entrant into the top ten. These are great, they’re quite spicy for a candy and I love them. As a bonus they were far too spicy for Mrs. Cola so I got to eat the whole bag. Immediately you get Mango sweetness followed by some heat and in gummi form! I ate the whole thing in one sitting and I have no regrets. I would love to know what the other Kommentists who received them in the box thought of these. I’d 100% buy them again and again. I’m now wondering whether this would translate well to a THC gummy. I have a close friend who makes THC and CBD gummies himself to varying success and may ask him do try with Mango Jello and a bit of heat to go with the weed oil.
That will do it for Snaxx this week. I personally have had a tough one and would like to thank you all for your support this past weekend. Jesus Fuck was I blackout on Friday, thank Mr. Jamesons and your Stout Edition Caskmate. My friend/roomate/coworker who left too soon was a functional alcoholic with a 4.0 grade point average. One morning I was on the couch watching futbol (shocker) and she rolled out of her room looking like she had been drinking all night (she had). First thing she did is head to the kitchen and pour herself a drink. It then dawned on me that she had a 4th year Environmental Sciences exam in less than an hour and she was in rough shape. To boot she was also going to be late. She took her beverage into the shower, cleaned herself up, came out, poured herself a roadie and went and aced that exam. Her drink of choice was odd which I have since named the AK (her initials). Its basically a paralyzer but better.
1 measure Kahlua
2 measures Vanilla vodka
1 measure cream
top with Dr. Pepper.
RIP AK, you will be missed.

Great gummy texture with the mango candy. I don’t really care for spicy gummy but that was good. I liked the white chocolate smarties.
That’s a helluva drink! I may try to make it in her honor this weekend.
The M&M things were exactly as you described. Nothing of substance to them. I also enjoyed the lemon pepper chips and found them extremely addicting. As in the bag was empty in about a minute and a half. The spicy mango things were surprisingly spicy but I’m not a mango or a gummy guy so I’m a poor judge there.
Those bacon cheese Bugle things though? I could eat a 5 gallon bucket of those fuckers. They were fantastic. I noticed the Yum shop has them in stock and I may need to order me some of those along with the German version of Funyuns. Beer food at its finest.
Bag was way too small. I misplaced the german funions bag. Will search.
Alhambra is okay, but I’m more of an Aquafina man myself.
Alhambra is good but San Gabriel is better and let’s not talk about Monterey Park.

We taught my MIL a few years ago how to make eggrolls. The little old Armenian ladies talking shit while playing playing cards, eating egg rolls, and downing the Turkish coffee all night is quite a sight. In Glendale, though, but close enough.

I’ve got a whole dresser drawer full of UG comix from the 1970s. Trashman kicked ass. Got all the Zap, Freak Brothers, Harold Hedd, Slow Death, Crumb stuff, RipOff Comix, on and on. I think a few of them are actually worth a few bucks, but I am too lazy to check and don’t need the money. Looks like there are some interesting docs on Youtube, Gotta remember to check some of them out.

I remember being in the states and the kids wanting a “smarties” ice cream treat things and the person behind the counter was confused as fuck why you would put “them” into ice cream. Had to explain to the kids about the differences
