Your “Going Out For Cigarettes” Sunday Evening Open Thread

Today begins my countdown to the end of my full-time status here at [DFO].

General stupidity plus changes at work mean I cannot be counted on to do the minimum I was responsible for going forward. The union gig was always going to take up a significant amount of time, but I figured I could still manage things with my posting. But schedule changes at school mean that I now start three hours earlier, and I have to teach a traditional course with 30 students at a time with a marking load to match, not manage a self-paced program where students come & go, and I can do the marking as I get it, or put it off in order to more deeply research a factoid I’m putting in an Open Thread. So my carefree days of sitting at a desk & reacting to students have come to an end.

That’s not to say I won’t be around occasionally. Once the school year gets started, I’ll be able to figure out what’s what with my timetable. But it’s better to rip off the bandaid now & then work my way back than say I can do something & then constantly have to beg someone to spell me.

I just figured I’d say goddbye today. I’ll be around until Thursday. Like a selfish bastard, I’m running away before the long weekend. I’ve just got to be me.
