INT. RECORDING STUDIO – DAY.
A pair of radio professionals are standing outside the recording booth sipping iced coffee. An athletic young man is waiting patiently in front of the microphone inside the booth.
CONNOR, THE INTERN: So…what did you say his name was, again?
PRODUCER: Victor Cruz.
CONNOR: Are you SURE it’s not Odell Beckham, Jr.?
PRODUCER: Yes. I am very sure. That was really embarrassing, by the way.
CONNOR: It was an honest mistake. YOU were the one who said he was a hot young receiver for the Giants.
PRODUCER: Yes, well that was an honest mistake too. How was I supposed to know he was exiled to the Bears?
CONNOR: I dunno, maybe pay attention to NFL news?
PRODUCER: Ugh, it’s too hot to pay attention to the news. Are we ready?
CONNOR: Yeah, we’re ready.
PRODUCER: [punches talkback button] Okay, Vic, we’re ready to go here. All set?
VICTOR CRUZ: Sure thing.
The PRODUCER counts down using hand signals.
VICTOR CRUZ: Hey folks! I’m Victor Cruz, here to host this week’s Request Line. Some of you might remember me as the Giants’ leading receiver during the 2011 season, when we won the Super Bowl over the New England Patriots. Others might remember me for…um…turning down a chance to display my signature touchdown salsa dance on television’s Dancing With the Stars. I’m also known for…oops, my producer here is telling me to get things moving…[the PRODUCER is decidedly not making any kind of signal that would suggest this]…so let’s start the show. As you folks undoubtedly know, I like things SPICY. So today’s theme is: things that are HOT. Hot food, hot women, hot salsa, hot weather…you say the name, you know I’m game. I’ll get us started with a classic from the Lovin’ Spoonful.
