Your “The Rex Countdown Is On” Friday Evening Open Thread

NFL News:

• The Bills defence was horrible last night – “horri-awful”, to borrow an old Shaq quote – so naturally they’ve fired Offensive Coordinator Greg Roman.
  • I guess Rex wasn’t “the first motherfucker to go” like he promised he would be.
  • Next question: how do the Jets rack up 493 yards of offence? It made Ryan Fitzpatrick look competent, and almost worth the contract he tried to hold out for.
• Sidenote from last night: not too many people seem to have issue with Ed Hochuli forcing Taylor off the field and into concussion protocol.
  • It was a pretty solid hit, and there was helmet contact.
    • Also, lying there playing dead kinda forced Hochuli’s hand. Taylor shouldn’t complain when he sold the impact like a ManU forward.
• Helping once again to take years off of his life by dragging him up there in memory of long-bygone days, the Browns are honouring Jim Brown Sunday by unveiling a statue of him prior to their home opener against the Ravens.
• TAWMMY & WELKAH are gonna play some catch this weekend. Maybe Brady will even buy the little fella some ice cream when they’re done. No sprinkles though; gotta have a ring to get those.
• A tender hammy (plus Boltman’s wrath) will keep future trade bait Joey Bosa out of the Chargers game versus the Jags this Sunday.
• Russell Wilson says he’s “ready to go” for the game versus the Rams on Sunday.
• Get ready for all the HAWT TAEKS Peter King can muster, because the Hall of Fame nomination list was released Friday, and included was 5-time Pro Bowler and 16-time raper Darren Sharper.

Finally, if you want to spend a few minutes wondering whether steel beams can actually melt, SB Nation has a pretty good story on how Jeff Fisher is basically a coaching Ponzi scheme. I find it amazing that Rex will be fired long before he is. Colonel RAMIT looks like every used car salesman stereotype, and a shower & blow dry away from being Jim Tomsula.

For those who are interested, the World Cup of Hockey officially starts this weekend.

A veritable “DON’T GET HURT!” of players from rosters representing the elite of the NHL, plus a couple of Swedish & Russian guys no one outside the deepest hockey boards has heard of.

I do like how they’ve got a kids team,

so they could include guys like Connor McDavid and Jack Eichel without costing other players spots on a national team. FYI: The “XXIII” in the logo is for noting the team is comprised of players 23 and under.

The “Europe” team is how they found a way to include Slovaks, Slovenes, Latvians and various other Europeans so it’s not just the usual suspects/8 teams taking part.
