Your “Oh Great, HE’S Back” Wednesday Evening Open Thread

NFL Notes:

  • Accepting the inevitable, Tony Romo validates Dak Prescott as the starter, thus beginning the Drew Bledsoe phase of his playing career.
  • RGIII has been cleared for non-contact practice. No 0ne has thought to ask him if he wants to come back.
  • Not coming back: Christine Michael, who was waived by the Seahawks Tuesday. At least they flew him home – Mike Zimmer would have fed him to the wolverines.
  • Apparently there’s something in the rulebook called a “palpably unfair act”, and the League has decided to allow officials to enforce it should a team pull a 49ers and have all DBs hold all the receivers, but only on the second such offence. The call will allow the refs to restore the clocked time as well as give 15 yards.
  • Trying to get the rest of Seattle to fall in love with him, Russell Wilson has joined the campaign to bring the Sonics (in some form) back to Seattle. Boomshakalaka!
  • Trebek & “Jeopardy” had a Browns question yesterday:

Finally, it appears we’ve reached the “marketing bullshit” stage of Deflategate/Ballghazi:

The missus and I decided to book a quick holiday, tacked onto the end of a work trip she had to Toronto. Being Canadian, we decided to stick to a blue state. Because Vancouver had 28/31 rainy days in October, she wanted leaves and/or just Fall. Me, I wanted history, or at least a place where I wouldn’t be bored by the lack of things-that-interest-only-me. Since she doesn’t like doing repeats, New York & several others were out. So, we settled on Boston, which is just one connection away.

plaqueBoston’s a lovely town. For a history major like me, given Boston’s age, there’s plenty of that to see. Things like the Freedom Trail are my jam. Mrs. Beerguy loves museums, so we got in some of that too. She insisted on walking to Harvard, so we also walked through MIT, because why not. I found Harpoon Brewing, and lost an afternoon. And, after being forced to subsist on a walking tour “travel diet” of carrots & crackers, the last night saw me gore through a 10 oz. burger and a pound of fries while watching the Eli & Andy show Monday night.

One thing I was reminded of – the Eastern time zone BLOWS for watching sports. One of the few advantages to living on the west coast is knowing that Sunday morning brunch will have football. I woke up at 9:30 last Sunday expecting the usual chucklefuckery that is the FOX pre-game, and instead I got treated to a political panel auto-fellating themselves over Trump’s victory. The Monday Night game started at eight-fucking-thirty! Like most Best Coasters, I got caught taking the early start times for granted. I’m sure my screams were audible down on the street.

Speaking of sports, more on that tomorrow.

IT’S GOOD TO BE HOME!

WCS

Senor Weaselo

Fun fact, since today seems a Goodfellas gif theme: The bar they filmed all the, well, bar scenes at is in Woodhaven and for a few years had a Wednesday night jam that I used to go to with Padre Weaselo. They like to call themselves the oldest bar in the city, but it’s up for debate.
