Cleats on the Ground – WBC (PR v US)

After 3 games, I was really excited for this one. Puerto Rico’s fans were just plain fun to be around. There was a lot of spirit showing all around. There was a guy in George Washington garb and a US flag with 13 stars. That’s good commitment to a bit.

So, I don’t know what anyone else think but I think the road charcoal jerseys are terrible. The Venezuelans at least paired the charcoal pants with their bright blue jersey which would have looked better with the standard light grey pants. But these charcoal on charcoal uniforms are really hard on the eyes.

Also, I’m not sure but I think Altuve may be taller than Stroman.

Puerto Rico is definitely represented. They have the best fans by far from an interactive standpoint.

Puerto Rico had 6 consecutive singles to begin the bottom of the 1st that produced 4 runs. There was a nice double play off, essentially, a seccrifice fly to Yelich. Molina slid past third base and was tagged out. Puerto Rico might have put up a larger number without that blunder.

Posey’s solo shot would have been a no doubter without the marine layer effect. With the marine layer it was only out by a couple of rows.

The ball girl was cold tonight. It was low 60s at the start and dropped into the 50s by the middle of the game. The group from Vegas sitting next to me had brought a blanket.

Second best game of the series so far. USA mounted a comeback in the 9th but couldn’t finish. Didn’t find out until later that Crawford should have been called out at third. Puerto Rico definitely earned the victory.

This was one of two arrests made near me. Both people just hopped the low wall so they could dance on the dirt in celebration. Earned themselves a trespassing arrest and lifetime ban from Petco. Besides the US loss, this was the only other disappointing moment from the night. The game itself lived up to my expectations.
