Your “Seriously?!” Wednesday Evening Open Thread

NFL Noise:

  • Despite nothing new to broadcast, Amazon has re-upped its broadcast deal with the NFL.
    • They will continue to stream 11 Thursday-night games, with the added bonus of a late-season, Saturday exclusive game to broadcast.
      • A league concession is that the game will also be broadcast over-the-air in both teams’ home market.
  • The Falcons have declined the fifth-year option on Takkarist McKinley, meaning he will become a free agent at the end of the 2020 season.
    • A tail-off in production after two strong years meant the Falcons were ready to cut bait and try to draft their next big thing.
  • Bashaud Breeland had a bad night Tuesday, waking up Wednesday facing a slew of misdemeanour charges.
    • He was arrested & charged with resisting arrest, having alcohol in a motor vehicle with the seal broken, having an open container of beer or wine in a motor vehicle, possession of 28 grams or less of marijuana or 10 grams of hash, and driving without a license.
      • According to ESPN, in searching Breeland’s car, the officer found a blunt weighing 1.3 grams, other marijuana weighing about 3.2 grams, two open bottles of Corona beer and an open bottle of Patron.
        • Plus, they had to draw a taser & then a gun to get him to stop trying to leave the scene.

Finally, people aren’t done trying to hasten the Packers-Rodgers divorce.

  • The talking armpits at nfl.com come down Peter King (50/50) on the whole affair.
    • Some say it’s smart, like they tried with Rodgers under Favre, and more recently with Alex Smith mentoring both Colin Kaepernick & Patrick Mahomes.
    • The others say that it’s too long a mentor period, and guarantees one of the two is done sooner than expected in Green Bay.
  • Olivia Munn Brett Favre speculates that Rodgers will eventually play somewhere else.
    • It’s not Aaron’s job to mentor Jordan Love,” Favre said. “I guarantee you [the Love pick] got the gears going in Aaron’s mind,” Favre said.

Today’s good internet dog is Bill Belichick’s dog Nike (of course. #branding). At least he was much better to look at draft night than Grumblelord himself.

He is a 2.5 year-old Alaskan Klee Kai dog, and the trick was having treats beside the computer & waiting for Belichick to give him the signal to go. So, just like Brady.
