Boris’s Drake Themed Week Three Autopsy

Boris’s Week Three Autopsy

Here were my lineups this week:

DK

Herbert

Davis

White

Sutton

Chase

Jones

Kelce

Kupp

Bengals

SD

Murray

Mattison

Ekeler

Moore

Jones

Williams

Kelce

Metcalf

FD

Mahomes

Mattison

Barkley

Williams

Chase

Metcalf

Kelce

Kupp

Cardinals

I cashed on all three. Awhile ago I learned to always throw your cash lineup into a gpp just in case. My Fanduel lineup scored 194.3 points, which in a gpp netted me an ROI of 80x my entry fee.

The Good

I liked so many QBs this week, Herbert chief among them, but went with three different guys on each site. Fanduel’s pricing remains the softest, there’s just many more ways to build a salary based lineup there.

On DK, my main site of participation, Herbert was only 11% owned as opposed to the 40 he was last week, proving the short memory needed in DFS.

Brady didn’t throw as many TDs as I thought, but he will continue to do so. He also still put up over 31 DK points.

Staying away from Fields was a good call, but I am concerned about his coaches as they did not put him in any position to succeed.

Davis was adequate with his 11 DK points at $5100, though I was expecting a score. Again, those are tough to predict.

Mattison ended up being not as high owned as I thought, and I’m glad I went there on the two sites where it was easy to get him in. His 6K price tag on DK seems to have been enough to deter him from becoming massive chalk, which likely would have sunk my lineups there.

Ekeler and Barkley both had respectable days.

I 100% made the right call on Ty’Son Williams, but this backfield will require some figuring out.

I stayed away from the Raider backfield, but if anyone went with Peyton Barber, then it certainly worked out. Why has Drake been on so many teams? There’s something about this guy that teams and coaches don’t like, including his current ones. Jon Gruden must hate the Drake.

Ja’Marr Chase is legit. His chemistry with Burrow is equally legit. I expect his price will begin to increase.

Cooper Kupp is someone I appeared to have made a huge mistake on with my pre-season analysis. Kupp was owned in 60% of cash games on DK, and it’s a good thing I ate that chalk this week. I expect his price to climb close to the 8K range next week. If it isn’t, he still might be too cheap.

It was a Metcalf week after all as Tyler Lockett all but disappeared. Lockett actually seems to have survived a huge injury scare. Metcalf will continue to be fine. He’s a physical freak.

Mike Williams proved his new role in this offense to be legit for the 3rd week in a row. His price really needs to be higher on all sites.

Marvin Jones was fine, though more would’ve been nice.

Other receivers like Beasley and Claypool were good calls as well because of the specific situations each found himself in this week.

Just. Play. Kelce. He was 5% owned in cash games, didn’t have a TD, but still had over 20 DK points.

Three out of the four DSTs I recommended had a good day. Go me!

The Bad

RW3 really didn’t hit like I thought he would here. The first drive of the day featured a lot of Metcalf, but I hoped for more out of Wilson this week.

James White. This one nearly cost me a lot of $. All I was hoping for out of White was 5 catches and maybe 25 rushing yards. At $4900, that did not seem like a big ask. Unfortunately, unless you are Carson Wentz, Desean Jackson, the guy ahead of Jacoby Brissett on the depth chart, or any SF running back, then injuries become very hard to predict. White was the only one in my lineup I wasn’t 100% sure about. I should have my fucking head examined for going ahead when I wasn’t 100%. Right Joe?

Sterling Shepard. Again, if I could accurately predict injuries, I’d have way more money from DFS. But if my grandmother had a penis, she’d be my grandfather.

KJ Osborn. I try to avoid paying down this far in cash games, so I left Osborn to a gpp play, which didn’t help me. Thanks for nothing KJ.

Hockenson. Whew…oh boy did I dodge a bullet from this guy who was massively owned in cash games. Again, just play Kelce. I did try the double stack with him and Kelce in gpps…didn’t work out. Womp womp.

My god the Falcons are terrible, which says something about the Gmen for losing to them. They waited until the 4th quarter to target Pitts. Good thing you spent your 4th overall pick on him.

I still don’t know how the Raiders failed to stop the Dolphins…I’m still angry that this game was on my Redzone feed so much.

The Misses

While I said to stay away from Fields, I neglected to mention the Browns DST, which did quite well and would have been a good source of DST points.

Josh Allen was this highest QB with over 40 DK points. I’ve apparently been giving too much credit to the Team.

Najee Harris. He gets all the work for the Steelers backfield right now. Depending on price, he has to be considered regardless of how shitty his O-line is. Dude had over 100 yards RECEIVING.

I last minute included Courtland Sutton into my lineups. That was a mistake as he got gamescripted out, but he’s still the primary weapon with Jeudy out.

The Saints were never on my radar, but clearly they should’ve been.

Kendrick Bourne is on the Patriots? Slept through that one.

It was nice to make a recovery this week, it certainly made writing this easier. On to week four and hopefully winning enough money to stay here:

Boris had a friend in his high school freshmen English class once mistakenly call him Boris, and the name has somehow stuck ever since. He attempts to teach high school English, aspires to write and somehow make a ton of money in DFS.

Re: Pitts

At least he started and played tons of snaps. The Gmen’s 1st rounder-Toney-only got onto the field after two wr’s were injured. The dudes that saw more action than him? C.J. Board and Collin Johnson. Who? Guys on Giants sites (which are all on fire today) are reduced to saying stuff like, “why can’t Kadarius be out there for some gadget plays?”. Which gives you an idea of how baked-in the disappointment in that pick is. I mean, Jason Garrett designing trick plays. Him? He’s so goddamn vanilla.

I did not do nearly as well this week.

Time to make it all up tonight and Thursday. That’s how gambling works right?
