Boris’ Week Three Writeup

Welcome to Jerome Ford Week! Man, that was a scary looking injury. They didn’t show the reply on the broadcast, but the Internet’s a thing, so I found it and rewatched. I honestly don’t know how Nick Chubb’s leg wasn’t accidentally amputated. Unfortunately injuries are part of the game though. In my one league that I own Chubb, I already had Jerome Ford because I believe in handcuffing, even the kinky kind. Instead of wasting my waiver priority or FAAB dollars, I immediately get the option of putting him in my lineups. What I don’t believe in, however, is starting a $4800 running back who’s playing against a good run defense, will be 30% owned in GPP tournaments, and will potentially lose touches to the newly signed Kareem Hunt.

Also, I have been traveling these past 2 days, so if the notes seem a little more “quick hittery” than normal, my apologies but it’s like 1 AM as I put the finishing touches here.

If you want to check out my specific ownership projections, here is the link to my article on Gridiron Experts.

On to the games!

Atlanta @ Detroit

  • I like stacking this game as an alternative to the chalky Vikings/Chargers affair.
  • Amon-Ra has an advantageous matchup against CB Dee Alford.
  • Sam LaPorta shall soon score.
  • Jahmyr Gibbs should have an increased workload if Monty is out, but beware of the Craig Reynolds vulturedown.
  • Josh Reynolds is looking a little chalky this week after scoring twice last Sunday.
  • The Falcons ran the ball 45 times last week! By comparison the Gmen ran only 42 total plays Thursday night against the 49ers.
  • If Kyle Pitts doesn’t do anything this week, it’s over, just cut him and write a fantasy obituary. The Lions gave up 20 fantasy points to the Chiefs without Kelce and 16 to Seattle which is where tight ends go to die. I’m going to laugh so hard when it’s Jonnu Smith who finds the end zone instead.

New Orleans @ Green Bay

  • Through 2 games New Orleans has been very stingy on defense. Jordan Love won’t have a monster game, but he’s been protecting the ball quite well thus far.
  • Part of this is having played Atlanta in Week Two, but Green Bay has been getting gashed on the ground. Kendre Miller and Tony Jones are the two left standing at the RB position. I like Kendre as a sneaky DFS start for his inaugural game in the NFL, but this will likely be low scoring game.
  • Week 1 Romeo Doubs scored twice, Week 2 it was Jayden Reed. Maybe it’s Luke Musgrave’s turn this week?

New England @ NY Jets

  • Pats C Dave Andrews told the media how he depressingly ate 5 cans of clam chowder after the Pats most recent loss. This begs the question: does he increase that to 6 or 10 after they lose to the Jets on Sunday?

  • J/K, Andrews didn’t actually say that….to the media anyway.
  • I expect the Patriots to get their first win of the season here. Zach Wilson is going to have his hands full with the Patriot defense, but then again Mac Jones should have problems of his own as well. I smell a 13 – 10 final upcoming.
  • I’m not sure how you start anyone on the Jets here other than Garrett Wilson, who won’t be owned in DFS. He had 2 catches for 83 and a TD last week against the Cowboys.

Denver @ Miami

  • This is my second pivot off the Chargers v Vikings. This could be an environment where Russ and company will have to get pass happy and play catchup.
  • Mostert and Tyfreek will be popular options on Sunday.
  • Durham Smythe is collecting ownership as well.
  • With Jaylen Waddle questionable (he did get a practice in on Friday) one of Braxton Berrios or River Cracraft could see inflated targets on Sunday. Should Waddle play, I am very interested in him as it’s likely that Tyreek gets shadow coverage from Surtain.

LA Chargers @ Minnesota

  • About 30% of the field is going to be stacking this game in DFS. So the choice before us is whether or not to fade and hope to get lucky.
  • Kevin O’Connell has openly said the Cam Akers acquisition is to address the deficiencies in the run game. O’Connell used to coach under McVay, so the trade makes sense. Akers may or may not play in Week 3 however.
  • I think the Vikings throw a little less this week, but there is potential for this game to get out of hand. Jefferson and Allen both have incredible matchups.

Indianapolis @ Baltimore

  • Anthony Richardson is out, so it’s Gardner Minshew time!

  • The Colts are having issues defending wide receivers, start Zay Flowers with confidence.
  • Mark Andrews could be in play, but the way to attack Indy is on the outside.
  • Rashod Bateman won’t be owned on Sunday.
  • Zach Moss looks entrenched as the RB1 for the Colts, Baltimore is only allowing 69

rushing yards per game though.

Houston @ Jacksonville

  • This is a solid matchup for Travis Etienne and Tank Bigsby, the Texans let the Colts run all over them last week and it should be a similar situation on Sunday for the Jags.
  • The Houston offensive line is in shambles so starting anyone on the Houston side is not on my radar.

Buffalo @ Washington

  • Josh Allen and his teammates look a little under owned this weekend. Buffalo is going to put up some points in this one.
  • The Bills DST, however, will be one of the more popular options this weekend.
  • Brian Robinson should get another week of being the featured back.

Tennessee @ Cleveland

  • Jerome Ford will likely be the highest owned player on Sunday, but I don’t like the matchup. I’m not even using Ford in that league I mentioned earlier.
  • The Titans are a pass funnel defense. Amari Cooper interests me a lot here, but Deshaun Watson has looked awful.
  • Derrick Henry may not play. Tajae Spears runs like he’s mad at the ground. Tough matchup though.

Carolina @ Seattle

  • It may actually be a good thing for Carolina that Andy Dalton is taking over at QB with Bryce Young out. Dalton is likely to lean on Adam Thielen and the ground game. As such, Miles Sanders is in play for me.
  • Kenneth Walker is in play on the other side as well.
  • Last week Tyler Lockett showed, yet again, why you can never count him out, Neither he, nor DK, nor Geno are getting much ownership.

Chicago @ Kansas City

  • LOL

Dallas @ Arizona

  • It’s a great matchup for both Tony Pollard and CeeDee Lamb. However, Lamb is coming in with some high ownership, and it’s entirely possible that they just won’t need him as they curb stomp these Caleb Williams chasers with defense and the run game.
  • Cowboys DST looks to be at like 3% ownership.

Kinky handcuffing fan!! WOOOOOO!!

ballsofsteelandfury

Also, LOVE the Chicago-KC analysis…

King Hippo

I would NEVAR be able to do that personally (too WASP-y) but occasionally in my sapphic surfing shame time I will look for handcuff vids

ballsofsteelandfury

Oh buddy, you don’t know what you’re missing out on…

Mr. Ayo

You are really missing out Other Hippo. Grab some cuffs and get back out there.

King Hippo

Given that I am a retired heterosexual, I wouldn’t bet on it. And I was self-conscious even as a Young Hippo. Even dirty talk weirds me out.

BrettFavresColonoscopy

Apologizing for a “light” effort at 1am is not exactly the DFO way, my friend.

King Hippo

Feeling Mims or Sutton against Miami? I probably have to use one, and likely need to go upside not floor.

scotchnaut

You can’t fool me, River Cracraft is a level 2 Druid with shape-shifting abilities.

/drop Pitts. Smith is going to dial back Ridder’s 32 pass attempts-he’s too turnover prone. Lucky not to get picked 3-4 times.
