Back when I was just a young inescapable force of the universe, I worked for Blockbuster Video, and they had a strict policy about what you could, and could not, play on the in-store TVs. One of my managers was also into Boingo, and we would play the Skeletons in the Closet VHS tape before we opened, and if it was a slow day, leave it on until someone noticed.
One day, the District Manager came in…. just as “Little Girls” was starting. I was so into the music I didn’t even notice him, just sang along until he cleared his throat. I still didn’t care. It was Boingo, man. You don’t stop that just because some corporate underling comes into the store.
*Actual cool story, bro.
I remember those days. The envelope was occasionally pushed, but generally we had a few go-to tapes to pop in. Couldn’t stand the in-house advertisment tapes. You can only see a Sugar Ray video so many times a day before contemplating murder.
Dear god, the trailer tapes…. to this day, some trailers trigger Nam-like flashbacks and fits of uncontrollable rage.
Anything more than a handful is just a waste.
