DFO Radio: Makin’ It Rain

What a weekend!

One year removed from tying Tiger Woods’ record for the best Masters tournament performance in history, Jordan Spieth found himself halfway through his final round with a five shot lead with just nine holes to play.  He thought about what his good friend Tony Romo would do, and then promptly went out and shot a bogey, then another bogey, and then in one of the most shocking lapses of concentration you’ll ever see on a golf course unless you play personally with yours truly, sank two consecutive balls into the water on his way to a quadruple bogey, knocking himself out of tournament contention.  Englishman Danny Willett scooped up the fumble and ran it into the end zone for six and goddamn how much longer until football is back?

In roundball, the Golden State Warriors came back from a ten point deficit halfway through the fourth quarter and eked out a victory in Memphis on Saturday, and followed it up by being the first visitor to win in San Antonio all season, putting themselves into a tie with the Chicago Bulls for the best regular season record in NBA history, with just one home game left (against the Grizzlies) to set a new standard.

In personal news, your very own Rikki-Tikki-Deadly set a personal record in the bench press, by pulling off a single-rep max of 200 lbs.  That’s not impressive by any metric of weightlifting, but for a forty-year old guy who weighs 152 pounds, I’m pretty proud of myself.  It’s a goal I’ve been chasing for a good year, and I’m very happy to have finally achieved it.  Your move, Terron Beckham.

The rain has finally stopped here in L.A., so I’m looking forward to some green hills and more sinus headaches – given how much pollen was showing up in the puddles when it started raining I’m convinced that’s what was happening last weekend. During the week I experimented extensively with alcohol and various hangover levels to make sure there was no correlation, and I’m happy to report that there’s not.  Thanks to everyone for the concern.  Enjoy the tunes!

And a late twin spin. And a Grateful Dead twin spin at that, which means a serious investment of your time.

I’ll take full credit/blame for “It’s Raining Men”. I’m relatively new to posting on DFO; I didn’t fully understand that the rules/regulations of Request Line meant only posting songs that you actually want to hear/share instead of just songs that fit the theme. I was also 10-14 beers into an 18 pack when I posted (approx.) 1/5 of this playlist.

Thank ya’ll for understanding and special thanks to RTD for adding it anyway.

Please accept my sincerest apologies and I promise to do better in the future.

Yours Truly,

Hell you posted the Hava Dance Song; I don’t even remember what I’m apologizing for!?!

Nice banner image, too.

Wow, I must be on autopilot today. Didn’t even notice the modified banner image.
Nice.

Plus: I didn’t watch one goddamn stroke of the Masters because golf is fucking stupid.

Minus: I spent four fucking hours watching a baseball game played by 11 year olds. It was typical stupid ass Maryland spring weather: 50 degrees and windy.

Plus: Mrs. Fozz made Reubens for dinner and I overdosed on them, and tangy sauerkraut.

Minus: Today my office smells like Omaha Beach a day after D-Day.

“So glad we weren’t in Baltimore yesterday afternoon.”

You……… seem…………. angry………

Sick and tired of this weather – and complaining about the weather is incredibly productive.

Plus, it was baseball. My son pitched for an inning and got shelled worse than the troops at Verdun.

Proud dad moment: he bounced back in fine form.

Moose -The End Is Well Nigh

My deal for weather is that no matter how bad it is if I’m more prepared for it than others around me I’ll shiver or bake in delight.

When he gets older all he will need is a hook, not an expensive hooker.

At least watching golf, I got to do it while on my couch being warm and drinking beer(s) between short naps. And Spieth’s late match meltdown was so Romoesque it kinda felt like a football Sunday.

So golf with three balls?
