Great write up! You’ve pretty much validated my opinion as to why I can’t be bothered to ever visit Paris. How is getting around the city/country when you (presumably) don’t know the language?
Eh, I would go any time. A fellow worker who is about as a US engineer as you can get just got back and even he loved seeing the things that didn’t have huge lines to see. He specifically remarked about the public pissing and the ain’t care attitude at the beach. He said getting around was not really a problem even with these crowds. There are several other areas I would want to spend more time in once I saw the things in Paris I wanted to hit. But I’m sure it’s not for everyone.
To clarify; his trip was France and Belgium, not just Paris as I would think the beaches in Paris would be somewhat limited.
They actually bring sand in during the summer along the river and create beaches!
That is a damn fun fact.

Generally, I find few really positive opinions of Paris. I found it to be meh and it’s not high on my list of places to return to.
I’ve found that it makes a YUUUUGE difference if you can speak the language.
I speak french fluently. Mrs. Cola does not, she is very happy I am here. In Paris you can get by piss easy, we were just on the coast in Noirmoutier and it defiitely would be a struggle.
