Good morning! We are back again with the twelfth edition of Global Snaxx.

As most have now received their Universal Yums Germany Snack box, I will attempt to review some of those next week.

If it seems that in this series that I eat a lot of Filipino snacks it is true but it truly is not planned. I usually hit 5 or 6 grocery stores in an afternoon every couple of months. I walk up and down the aisle and try things that interest me and some that are a bit iffy by our Western standards. I come home with a few bags of stuff and it truly is just random. I have a lot of weird sauces and marinades too for all sorts of international cookery! I cook 90% of the dinners in the house and have been home for a year now. I try to mix it up but why on earth did it seem easier when I was at the office and would cook things on the fly back in the day? More time = more thought which = more indecision.

Philippines

Roller Coaster Potato Rings Cheddar Cheese flavoUrs 

High hopes! I have high hopes. The very first thing I notice is that the bag is full, I do enjoy when you get what you see. From time to time international bags are inflated due to the pressure and you get nothing inside, like a mail order bride/husband. On first taste these are great, they are like Pringle rings. Subtle cheese taste, super crunchy these are a definite winner. Mrs Cola and I are watching TV and we crushed this whole bag quickly. With the Snaxx experiments that we do this is very rare.  100 % will purchase these again, this time not in the name of [DFO] science. This definitely slides in to the top half of all that I have tried for entertainment purposes.

Leslie’s Clover Chips – Ham & Cheese corn snacks. 

Simut-sarap kasama my friends!!!!! These bad boys also come from Manila. Boy howdy do they ever smell like smoky bacon and they taste like Bacon potato chips that Old Dutch used to make up here. The Old Dutch bacon are fucking delicious and you would and should eat both bags in the box immediately after acquiring. Do they still sell twin boxes that remind me of a simpler time during my childhood? You know they do. I’ll do a Canadian Snaxx review in the future and the ‘bagged milk” folk of the snaxx community will come out (looking at you Ontarians). These are passable if sitting around but not fantastic, I mean we’ll finish the bag because we can, not because they are especially good.

Mrs. Cola :“They definitely are better than some things we’ve eaten, I like the texture.”

About half way through the bag my interest is waning there just isn’t anything special about them.  I’m happy it isn’t one of those seafood snaxx that I always regret when I eat them but I do it for DFO. I would not purchase these again. 

Mrs. Cola “I disagree, I would totally buy these cheese chips again.” She says she wanted them cheesier but still enjoyed them. I know she wasn’t high so I guess our opinions differ on this one.

Taiwan 

Hwa Yuan Potato Chips Royal Cream Flavors

Not a lot of English on this package but we will persevere, I mean there couldn’t be cashews in potato chips right???? I would like to believe that Royal Cream is the same as Sour Cream but then again translation is hard. The chips taste kind of sweet with a weird butter taste which we seem to get a lot of from Taiwan and China in the past it also leaves quite the strange aftertaste and film on the top of your mouth. Mrs Cola investigated and they have a bunch of sucrose which would explain it. I mean, I am quite high and have had a bottle of wine and these are alright, they’re not offensive but I wouldn’t seek those out.

In closing they taste like a fucking baked potato with fuck all on them and I would not recommend. 

Mrs. Cola- Butter, that’s it. Chips with butter. 

Like sweet popcorn but chips. In closing they taste like a baked potato with sugar which is not normally how it should be presented. 

Thailand

Thai Coconut roll. – Jackfruit flavoUr

Holy shit this is a big baggggg, so affordable! Jackfruit. I ain’t never had that before raw or something flavoUred! Might as well give it a go. 

SWEET BUDDHA! are these delicious. So crispy, so delicious than the banana style of these that I’ve tried previously. . Note, they make a mess on your shirt and you will get laughed at by your wife who will say “You eat like a toddler”. They look like tasty Philly Blunts which is fine by me, and I did not try smoking them for the record. We legit can’t stop eating them thank goodness for exercise and an otherwise healthy diet. If my normal diet wasn’t healthy I feel that I am at that age now where things could spiral out of control in a hurry.

*Note, quite good with vodka, soda and Cherry Luxardo.

I would totally buy them again and they are in the all time top 10. I do have a list because STRUCTURE MATTERS. I looked at the ingredients and I know every word which is new. That also gives this a plus one. 

I’m real high and these taste like a visit to Thailand. That residual sweetness in everything, underlying coconut but fresh.
