As was pointed out by other Canadianites, she’s a holiday (it could be so nice) up here and I’ve got the day off and I’m tired of looking at the foliage. Let’s Talk About The Giants!
-First off, kudos to Hippo for 1) covering off for the Sunday evening game intro and 2) providing a detailed breakdown of how Daboll engineered the W in the end game yesterday vs the Packers. I love him with all my black heart.
To The Observations!
-Daboll and Kafka, as competent and capable coaches, are in a sweet spot whereby there is no real film on them. Opposing defensive coordinators can chart plays from the Bills and Chiefs but have no clue as to what either are going to do as (in my mind) co-OC’s. My first piece of evidence is the silly double end-around for the TD.
-What no one has mentioned regarding the win yesterday (the Packers choked! is the general consensus) is that the Giants played mistake-free football for an entire half-on both sides of the ball. Sometimes that’s all it takes to win a game when down by two scores.
-Rook tight end Daniel Bellinger is the real deal. He only caught 2 passes for 22 yards and scored a rushing TD but he’s been targeted 12 times and caught 10. He’ll be featured more as the o-line becomes settled-he’s a great blocker and has to stay in most of the time.
-Giants fans are waiting anxiously for Kadarius/Wan’Dale to come back but both are gadget dudes that don’t have anything resembling a route tree. I’m guessing that Daboll treats them like he did the Bills slot guy McKenzie. He’ll give them some oddball plays and let them develop (if they’re willing to put in the work) over the course of the next two years.
-Dimes’ defenders have pointed out that Danny has had X number of OC’s during the last Y years. He’s playing okay these last few games which gets me to thinking that the “Multiple OC’s” argument is actually an indictment of the team-but it’s always couched as an excuse for the player.
-Wink’s D was able to fluster a Hall of Fame qb in important moments. His schemes are going to do okay vs lesser signal callers.
-It might be the Blue Kool-Aid yakking but the easy sked and the quick start means that the Giants will have a decent record at the end of the year.
A caveman just won a Nobel Prize
Did he have a Chinese menu in his hand? Was he walking through the streets of Soho, in the rain? Was he looking for a place called Lee Ho Fooks?
We ate at Lee Ho Fooks many years ago. It was really busy and crowded, but the food was good!
Oh no, it closed in 2008! Shame, the food was really good when we went there around 1990 or so. They even had a Michelin star at one time.
Doesn’t look like Sam Losco.

This episode features the game in Winnipeg. If there’s no tune by The Weakerthans I’m thinking of changing the channel.
John K. Samson was right – Reggie Leach should be in the Hall of Fame.
Review for the week: https://gridironheroics.com/week-5-gpp-review/
Oh hey, Canadian, what’s that pork thing you guys have that we don’t? Is it called cottage loaf or something ?
Back bacon?
No, Gumby worked with a Canadian guy who said he always had some pork dish on Thanksgiving, maybe it was just him and his weirdo family? I thought he called it pork loaf or cottage loaf or something like that.
Gumby says he called it cottage roll.
It’s from the shoulder but it’s very fatty/cheap. Grammy on my mother’s side would cook it forever in water and it fell apart when she put it on the serving plate. #NOTYUMMY!
Hmmm, this guy loved it! Was Grammy a good cook? Fatty/ cheap meat can be awesome if it’s handled right.
Tim Horton’s Lard-O’s?
