Request Line: Passengers in Traffic

INT. BACK SEAT OF A FULLY AUTONOMOUS WAYMO VEHICLE STUCK IN TRAFFIC ON CULVER BOULEVARD DUE TO A VEHICULAR FIRE – DAY

The PRODUCER is seated in the Waymo, fiddling with his phone, looking spectacularly bored. 

DJ 3000′ [O/S via the Waymo speakers]: HEY THAT’S NOT SO BAD.

PRODUCER: I suppose, but I get the feeling the other participants aren’t taking this very seriously.

DJ 3000′ [O/S]: YOU THINK?

PRODUCER: Three of them switched to autodraft after two rounds!  And then there was the one guy who only drafted players whose first and last names started with the letter “J”.

DJ 3000′ [O/S]: I MEAN, A TEAM WITH JUSTIN JEFFERSON AND JOSH JACOBS AS ITS FOUNDATION ISN’T THAT BAD.

PRODUCER: Yeah but Josh Johson at quarterback?

DJ 3000′ [O/S]: FAIR POINT.  WANT TO DO ONE MORE?

PRODUCER: No, that’s enough mock drafts for today.  The stakes are too low for this to be any fun.

DJ 3000′ [O/S]: IF IT’S STAKES YOU WANT THE GAMBLING SITES ALWAYS HAVE SOMETHING GOING ON.  HOW ABOUT PUTTING DOWN A SMALL BET ON…[checks available options]…A MIXED DOUBLES SQUASH MATCH THAT’S ABOUT TO START IN ROMANIA?

PRODUCER: That’s all right.  I suppose I should set my lineup for that Canadian Fantasy Football League I joined.

The PRODUCER starts fiddling with his phone, then suddenly drops it as though it got too hot. 

PRODUCER: What the fuck?

DJ 3000′ [O/S]: OH, YEAH. YOU SHOULD PROBABLY STAY AWAY FROM THAT WEBSITE, THE THINGS I’VE HEARD HAVE BEEN…NOT GOOD.

PRODUCER: [gazes out the window at the endless traffic] Well, shit.

DJ 3000′ [O/S]: THERE’S ALWAYS MUSIC, SHOULD WE DO A TOPICAL THEME?

PRODUCER: I guess, what did you have in mind?

DJ 3000′ [O/S]: SONGS ABOUT TRAFFIC…

PRODUCER: There’s not enough…

DJ 3000′ [O/S]: …AND SONGS ABOUT PASSENGERS.

PRODUCER: Oh.  Yeah, that might work.  Got anything to get us started?

DJ 3000′ [O/S]: SURE DO – LET’S GET ROLLING WITH A LITTLE BILLY OCEAN.
