Request Line: Tennis Anyone?

INT. RECORDING STUDIO – DAY/NIGHT/DAY/NIGHT/DAY/NIGHT/DAY…

DJ 3000 and various other robot entities remain trapped in a time loop inside the KDFO recording studio.  The collection of robots are all seated in front of the portal, watching raptly. A call of “fault!” is heard, and they all applaud politely. 

— [DOOR FLIES OPEN] —

JOHN DIMAGGIO: Hey guys, what’s…

ALL: SHHH!!!

JOHN DIMAGGIO: [whispers]…going on?

After a few bouncing noises, a cry of “out!” is heard through the portal.

DJ 3000: WE’RE WATCHING WIMBLEDON.

JOHN DIMAGGIO: Oh. [quietly watches until the next point ends] Aren’t you worried they’ll spot the portal?

PETUNIA: Maximilian figured out how to set up a bandpass filter on the portal so it only allows green light to transmit through.

MAXIMILIAN: THEN WE SET IT UP AGAINST ONE OF THE BACKSTOPS. PEOPLE MIGHT SEE A LITTLE SHIMMER IF THEY LOOK IN THE RIGHT SPOT BUT THAT’S ABOUT IT.

ALL watch the next point, then flinch slightly as a mishit causes an errant ball to fly in the general direction of their vantage point.

RUSSELL WILSON: Just have to hope a ball doesn’t hit this exact spot and come through.

The game has ended and a changeover has begun, so everyone resumes speaking normally.

YETI: Souvenirs are what one obtains at the [sneers] French Open, not here on Wimbledon’s hallowed grounds.

MAXIMILIAN: WHAT’S IT CALLED HERE, THEN?

YETI: [stuffily] It’s known as a “keepsake”.

DJ 3000: [sighs] WE SHOULD PROBABLY GET THINGS READY FOR REQUEST LINE, THOUGH.

JOHNNY 2.5: HAVE WE GOT A TOPIC?

RQBOCOP: NOT YET, NO.

DJ 3000: SUGGEST IT ALL YOU LIKE, PRETTY SURE THERE AREN’T 100+ SONGS OUT THERE ABOUT TENNIS.

YETI: What if we expanded it to “the language of tennis”?
