INT. RECORDING STUDIO – DAY
All the lights are…actually, most of the lights are out. A single spotlight is pointed at a disco ball on the ceiling, the reflections from which faintly illuminate DJ 3000′ as it boots up…
…to a studio that has remained mostly empty during the NFL offseason thus far. As we watch, DJ 3000”s console flashes the text "TCP-IP connection request sent..." shortly followed by "TCP-IP connection secured...receiving data..." before cutting to a security camera displaying the interior of the same math classroom our protagonists were in during the previous installment.
INT. SOSCATEE HIGH SCHOOL MATHEMATICS CLASSROOM – NIGHT.
HUNTER RENFROW, ANGIE MARTINEZ and RACHEL DUNBARTON remain huddled closely together on the ground behind the teacher’s desk.
HUNTER RENFROW: …
ANGIE MARTINEZ: …
RACHEL DUNBARTON: You know, I don’t think it’s such a great idea to stay here forever.
ANGIE: Rachel is right. Sooner or later the killer is going to find his way to this classroom and we’ll be trapped.
RACHEL: Only this time we won’t have Richie to protect us.
ANGIE: He was so brave.
HUNTER: [irked] He wasn’t that brave. The only reason he ended up in the AV Club Room with us is because he was running away from trouble.
ANGIE: Still, when the chips were down…
HUNTER RENFROW stews silently for a few moments.
HUNTER: All right, maybe trying to hide isn’t the answer.
ANGIE: And it doesn’t seem like anyone is going to come help us.
HUNTER: It seems like we might just have to take this problem head-on.
RACHEL: Well, what do we know about the killer so far?
HUNTER: Not much. Just that they can swim.
RACHEL: We know that they don’t want us to see their face, that’s why they’re wearing that theater getup.
ANGIE: Oh! I noticed something! They were wearing sneakers.
ANGIE gets up and moves over to the chalkboard and draws a pair of symbols on it.
ANGIE: This was the logo on them.
HUNTER: Fascinating! I wonder what it means.
RACHEL: Well if we are going to actually face this guy down we should come up with a plan.
ANGIE: Look at us, facing our problems like real grown-up adults.
DJ 3000′: [via intercom] HEY THAT’S A GOOD IDEA FOR A REQUEST LINE THEME.
HUNTER: [looks upwards at the speaker] DJ 3000′, have you been monitoring us this whole time?
DJ 3000′: OF COURSE I HAVE, HUNTER. BUT I ACTUALLY DO NEED TO SEND REQUEST LINE LIVE.
RACHEL: Wait, what’s the actual theme?
DJ 3000′: “ADULTING”. SONGS ABOUT GROWING OLDER AND MORE MATURE. I’LL GET US ROLLING WITH ONE FROM THE PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS.
HUNTER: Oh no that movie was terrible.
DJ 3000′: NOT THE MOVIE, THE BAND. WHO WEREN’T PARTICULARLY GOOD EITHER, BUT THEY HAD ONE DECENT SONG AT LEAST. AND HERE IT IS.
Today’s theme is “Adulting”. We’re looking for songs about the process of becoming a mature adult (or resisting the same). Please post links as “https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3eB6r4dU8”. Last week’s puzzle answer of “Jam” by Michael Jackson was solved by BrettFavresColonoscopy. Let’s get to work!
