Can you Smell It? Sunday Etc. Etc.

Oh man. [Deep inhale.] I am feeling ever more refreshed over here, from the aromas of cedar and pine. [Sniff sniff] and perhaps raw mahogany, from all the wooden pallets of Toradol making their way to team facilities all over the National Fitbaw Lee. This season even in Spain, France, and Australia!

Yes, outstanding athletes will get injured this season, as in every NFL season, as do all athletes participating in all kinds of professional sprots, be it baseball or dominoes. Mental health is body health too, bo.

I am satisfied that players have a collective bargain agreement and that NFL teams have top-of-the-line medical equipment, plus credentialled doctors on the staff. When there’s an injury on the field, the players no longer depend on their father in the stands to send someone to see if the son’s OK or (more often) depend on the mother who will take off her heels and beat the crap out of the offending player’s family.

For gamedays, every NFL team has on the sidelines health professionals bound by the code of ethics of their chosen profession. Which means that, for every hurt player, credentialled doctors will mandate treatment and assess whether a player is injured or otherwise hates football and is a disappointment to his agent and teammates.

The NFL, which starts THIS WEEK, is a violent game. Two things to say about that. First, ¡violence is back, Hallelujah! Granted, longtime fans can attest that the game was more violent and QBs today are super coddled. Then again, instead of striving to maim or worse WRs reaching for an overthrow over the middle, defenders now routinely throw haymakers and uppercuts to the ball for a fumble. Which is satisfying, from both gambling and caveman perspectives. So yeah, everything is chido. And it seems that defensive play is now more dominant; Seahawks, Rams, Broncos, and Texans are Conference Champion favorites. I like, I like a lot.

Second, the violence of the game makes me have even higher respect for the players. However much scientists and commoners of sense establish data on the dangers of the sport, it is the athletes who take the risk. And as long as they decide to take the risk, at the highest level (i.e., playing against 250+ pound top athletes, instead of Criminal Justice majors), I will watch. Skill and bravery, for glory AND #Top pay, will always get my attention.

NFL NEWS

-The criminal hearing for exempt-listed RB Josh Jacobs has been moved from Week 11 to next Thursday, Sept. 10. His defense lawyers may plead to misdemeanor charges, but there has been talk about a video of the incident (yeah it’s from PFT, oh well). Personally, if you want / expect Jacobs to play in 2026, allow me to state

-Vikings sign S Harrison Smith for his 15th season. Hoping for a win-win for player and team, respectively and vice-versa.

-This headline caught my eye: “Giants’ Cam Skattebo says he mulled retiring after 2025 injury”. Wait. Cam Skattebo… mulled?

Epsh ¡please! From all media appearances, and comments by his teammates, I thought Skattebo was merely an organic motor system that ran footballs destructively on game days (a laboratory concoction like KFC “chicken” nuggets). Turns out, I was wrong. The link (at the WOW) obviously proves that Skattebo is a bona fide human with a complete central nervous system that produces abstract thought and, WOW, self-reflection. Can accept my mistakes, plus be humble, and move on.

-For the Australia game next Thursday (at the accustomed time in this hemisphere), the Rams “plan to bring all their players”. In legalese, this means up to and including Aaron Donald. An observation: the 49ers left last Wednesday for Melbourne and have been there for at least three days. By comparison, the Rams will leave NEXT Wednesday for a game that will be played in early Friday on Melbourne time.

Naturally, I picked the 49ers in a screwy 4-team parlay for Week 1 that will bring me told riches (i.e., I will tell everyone that I hit it—F*c*b**k, family group chats, the neighbor who texts me Powerball numbers, Mother, line mates at the supermarket, LinkedIn etc. etc.).  Also on the parlay: Broncos over Chiefs on MNF. Gotta have a gimme for a payout, it’s common sense.

FINALLY,

The Not-Season time is over. No more wondering what to do on Sundays or having melatonin binges at every Monday and Thursday evening. And, most importantly, the utter luxury of commenting every single NFL game with you and (AND) every Lee news item as well.

Which is a complete delight, contributing and commenting on this here website. This friendly community is all sorts of amazing.  It’s composed of very smart folks from different countries, of which several are currently on a bilateral hostile foreign policy implementation-off. And yet, there is no nationalism here.

In this website, everyone excels at being hardcore fans and being smart, kind, and compelling. And funny; the world may turn to crap, but you can never go wrong with humor.

I don’t know what else to say to you, except to ask: please accept my complete appreciation for letting me be a part of this. Thank you, thank you so very much.

This is an English translation of a post originally submitted to (and rejected by), nfllatinx.com. So they’s too good for storytelling through gif. Fuck those welebichos, full!

[Goes to kitchen sink, grabs crotch, spits.]

Yeah, ok this post was for another website originally.

What?

 You:

Whaat? Please. Aw. I was thinking about youse the whole time while writing ¡lo juro por mi auto!

C’mon. Don’t be like that. After eleven years together. Really? Shit, your pouting is gonna make ME cry. Sniff. Already crying over here. Let me dry myself with a name-brand paper towel—huh? Puerto Rico, paper towel, huh.

Look at me. Yeah that’s it. Heh. Heh heh, ahhh. There we go. What fun. NFL starts in three days. What say we grab a hot dog.

Unsurprised

Rikki-Tikki-Deadly

Fun fact: “Far Go” is what Touch of Downs tells his receivers when he wants them to run post routes.

Oh my Christ, i’m so bored. part of m e says go to bed, teh ote r part says go burn down the fuckin gtarget. fuck. i am so bored.

Unsurprised

This reminds me. I got blackout drunk at a party and ended up in the ER because I hit my head (turns out it was just a “back spasm”). I don’t ever want to do that again because I’m too old for that shit.

And that’s how I spent my summer vacation.

…and we have our fireworks-related structure (and vehicle in driveway) fire of night!
Congrats, Yinzers! Your unabashed love for pyrotechnics strikes again!

yeah right

Well people.

My girl stopped over for lunch and I cooked.

Quiche Lorraine and a spinach salad.

House made vinaigrette, Martha fucking Stewart’s pastry dough recipe, which was made yesterday.

It was delightful.

“He’s deep and he’s open over the middle. He’s going deep!
Touchdown!”

Crowd went wild.

SonOfSpam

Congrats on, um, going deep?

yeah right

We shared recipes instead.
We’re old.

yeah right

Then we shared our European vacation photos.

As is the way.

yeah right

I fucking love you Don T.!

Woo!

Rikki-Tikki-Deadly

There’s a K-drama called “Our Sticky Love” and I feel like something might have been lost in translation.

Horatio Cornblower

I’m sure whatever it was will be made clear by the 33rd episode of S4.

Rikki-Tikki-Deadly

They usually only last one season, around 20 episodes. It’s kind of nice knowing the story will be wrapped up by the end of the run, but since they are often very predictable things can drag a bit by episode 14 or so.

2Pack

Spot on Don T as usual.
Ciao tutti.

Horatio Cornblower

He’s currently got a significant role in Apple’s ‘Silo,’ which is a must watch if you like dystopian fiction or, any day now, a likely documentary.

SonOfSpam

So…insane genius Nathan Fielder made a documentary on Elizabeth Holmes, where she’s totally onboard. Based on the trailer, this is gonna be special in a ??? kind of way:

fuck that want to see Cecil Fielder’s documentary on her

Horatio Cornblower

Proposed catering budget makes that a non-starter.

Horatio Cornblower

I thought she was still in jail?

SonOfSpam

She might be; at least when he started the project, she was definitely still in.

And again, GREAT IDEA to let him film your rehab doc.

Rikki-Tikki-Deadly

“I’m in on the joke…I’m in on the joke…” she tells herself repeatedly while staring at her reflection in the bowl of a stainless steel toilet.

I am curious how she got dicknotized by that Indian guy.

Well, that’s about the best punt I’ve seen in a while. Nice.

If those f**king a**h***s put as much thought into their beer recipes as they do into their commercials that sh*t would taste as good as f**king Treehouse.

But since they don’t, Bud Light tastes like watered down piss.

Why do we even have replay, again?

Gatoraids

Why do we have foreplay, again?
-DJ Khaled

Gumbygirl

There’s not enough foreplay in the world…he’s so fucking gross.

Doktor Zymm

This Sk8rboi thing, if it only takes a month of downtime to figure out who you are, then there’s not all that much there to figure out, and the conclusion does seem to be the destructive football running thing. So he’s still an idiot, just the sort of idiot who can answer koans like the sound of one hand clapping by smacking himself in the head
