We are at the midway point in the regular season. How time can fly sometimes.
Week Nine Broadcast maps courtesy of 506 sports:
Byes this week are Cards, Ravens, Lions, Texans, Chiefs and Seahawks, so we are in for a lean week.
Primetime games are as follows:
TNF: Browns @ Bengals
SNF: Eagles @ Cowboys
MNF (but honorary TNF): Bears @ Chargers
Damn league schedulers, damn….go home and think about what you have done.
As for Sunday afternoon, we have a 7:3 split. I think there has only be one week where the early afternoon games have not outnumbered the late afternoon games by a 2:1 margin.
CBS Early features Raiders-Steelers in the vast amount of the country. This one has wild-card implications, and the winner can help their playoff cause tremendously. Jags-Jets has a weird distribution having a corridor from Atlantic City to the New Hampshire/Vermont-Canada border, Jags core market (more or less) and parts of Eastern North Dakota and the Northwest corner of Minnesota (maybe they have an affinity for the letter “J”), Dolphins-Bills is another strange one with their core markets, bits and pieces of New England, and the great TV market of Greenville. Titans-Saints are in most of the South-East. The Minnesota Middle Finger makes a return.
CBS late features Broncos at Colts in most of the country. Come root for your soon to be 3-6 Colts, marvel as they will host a team in the playoffs with at least 3 more wins than them.
Fox early has Packers-Panthers, which is another important game with playoff implications, in most of the country. I wonder if they will flex that one to the night game. Redskins-Patriots is limited to their core markets fortunately. Likewise with Vikings-Rams. Fox late is Giants-Bus mostly limited to their native markets, plus Pittsburgh. Falcons-9ers is also limited to their core markets, though it is telling of the 9ers season when they are not even broadcast in a significant portion of California.
