Jesus-fucking-Christ, has it been hot.

I know tis may come as a surprise to you desert-dwellers, but most Canadians aren’t that used to the heat. (There are some weirdoes that live in Osoyoos, which is practically a desert, and the Saskatchewan grasslands sometimes get that hot. But c’mon!) It’s expected to stay above 35 Celsius the whole week, and get as high as 40 Celsius away from the water. That’s over 100 degree in real temperature. Just look at this bullshit, which I put in English just for the people wo live in Canada’s pants:

Yeah – no shit “heat warning”. I’m supposed to get excited for the Stanley Cup? Hell – I braved Costco on a Saturday just so I could walk into the cooler to get some milk.

Given my luck, it’ll rain on Canada Day. And still be 90 degrees.

Tonight’s sports:

    • Game 1 tomorrow night.
  • NBA:
    • Milwuakee at Atlanta – 8:30pm | TNT / Sportsnet
  • MLB:
    • Cubs at LA Dodgers – 7:00pm | ESPN / TSN
  • US Olympic trials:
    • Track & Field – 7:00pm | NBC (tape-delayed on the Best Coast)
    • Women’s Gymnastics – 8:30pm | NBCSN
      • I assume Simone Biles doesn’t have to attend?

  • Letters:
    • Scripps National Spelling Bee: Semifinals – 7:00pm | ESPN2 / TSN2

You know the teacher in me has that finals set to record. There better not be any more of that eight-way tie bullshit like 2019!

I spent two weeks in Palm Springs one August moving my mom from one apartment to another. I thought I was going to die. I can’t imagine being there full time.

I don’t know lots about bicycle racing, but I know enough to know there is tons going on strategy-wise that I am unaware of and that for the true aficionados it is a big deal to watch the full pack in real time. Enjoy!

I feel your pain. 41 here in the Okanagan but you get the humidity in Van too. My AC is working hard to keep it under 75 inside. I use Fahrenheit inside and Celsius outside. The Canadian way. Like grocery stores that advertise in price per pound but use kg in the store. Hope you’re all having a good Sunday, time for more beer.

Uncorked the Flying Suitcase 2013 Syrah I picked up. Definitely needs to open up a bit first, it’s 16% and just smelled boozy for the first minute. Very tasty now, but if anyone wants to come over and grill me a steak to go with it that would be awesome.

The temp in the part of LA that I live in is a nice 88 degrees. Should remain around there for the next week.
