[DFOnline] Go to Hell!

No, really, let’s go to Hell. Kind of out of nowhere, a new Doom game was released this week. Sorry, it’s DOOM, in all caps, because that’s more intense. Supposedly it’s pretty rad.

Other new hotness includes Uncharted 4, Dark Souls 3, and the game currently robbing me of sleep nearly every night, Stellaris. It’s essentially Civilization in Space, but with more immersive writing and story experiences. And you can be a xenophobic race of frogmen prone to violence and prejudice. Galactic Riley Coopers, if you will.

So, fellow members of the Commentist Party, what’s getting your drive hard this week?

Will this be our de facto night thread? I’m comfortable with that.

Unsurprised

That works for me.

Rikki-Tikki-Deadly

I’ll probably finally crack open that Metal Gear Solid V that my brother-in-law bought me for…sheesh, it’s been a while.

Prepare for fulton extraction obsession.

Presently trudging my way through Tales of Zestiria. JRPGs on newer consoles last for-fucking-ever. Afterwards, I have an insane backlog of steam and Xbox games I got through the Games with Gold thing to dig through. Humble Bundles basically made it so I’ll never need to buy a new video game. Doesn’t stop me, though.

Got Tadpole Treble last week for $8 on Steam ($10 normally). The story mode’s short (I finished it in about 3 hours), but it’s a rhythm game so it’s all about the soundtrack and the set of different level challenges. Not particularly difficult either–there’s about three levels that I died my first try and on two of them it was because I didn’t know what I needed to look out for. Gotta try out the composition mode, and I need a chance to get through Concerto Mode (every level, start to finish, one life) when I’m not as busy. And Thunder Creek is stuck in my head.

Unrelated, apparently Rappoccio and RFD got our exiled simian overlord on their podcast. So yay?

SonOfSpam

Just got Fallout 4 because it finally fell to $30. Also picked of COD: Ghosts because Best Buy had it for $4.99 for a day. See a pattern? (I’m a cheap bastard.)

Also, as an old guy with a family, I get to fire up the PS4 about once a month. WOO AGING!!!

JustStopDude

What is even the point in having a system that doesn’t feature false wood pattern on it?!?

What’s getting my drive hard? Hopefully something that doesn’t last for more than four hours

ArmedandHammered

I have Stellaris on my wish list but I am still playing a lot of Grim Dawn, Endless Legend and Rift. From what I am hearing I may have to just take the plunge and buy it, not like I actually needed the 4 hours of sleep I was getting a night anyway.

Any of you cockslaps tried Project Brutality? Prepare to have your faces shredded off. Literally:

What platforms are used for the new DOOM?
Because I love me some motherfucking DOOM.

DOOM 3 was the ever loving shit-kitty.
Give me my BFG9000 and back the fuck up.

This scene from “The Color of Money” is what gave Doom it’s name. No bullshit.

Obligatory. Also, as seen on the email chain…

Low Commander of the Super Soldiers

I’ve had a very Uncharted morning. Doing my first play through on Crushing, because I love a challenge. Just reached chapter 9.

This is easily the most visually pleasing game I’ve ever played. Naughty Dog has also done a fantastic job of incorporating mechanics from Last of Us that worked well, and it sometimes feels more like I am reading a good book instead of playing a game.
