As some of you might have seen in yesterday’s open thread, the illustrious Mrs. Deadly is gone for the week, so I’ll be trying to make the most of my temporary bachelorhood this week. That most likely entails rekindling my relationship with our neglected* Playstation and thinning out the herd in our liquor cabinet, while expanding my dog’s dishwashing responsibilities to “full time”. Yesterday’s roundball game was a vast disappointment in terms of entertainment value; fortunately the afternoon was saved by the hilarious brawl between the Rangers and Blue Jays, punctuated by Roughned Odor delivering one of the best punches in baseball history.
I don’t care about either team, but I do think it’s very amusing that a player such as Jose Bautista, who speaks unabashedly about the “unwritten rules” of baseball, performs one of the most memorable bat flips in history, slides obviously (and illegally) at the shortstop’s legs, returns from being pushed hard in the sternum with his head and fists up, then has the audacity to say he “was surprised” that he got punched in the jaw. In the current political climate, a man so purposefully obtuse could go a long way, hell, he’d probably make a great vice-presidential candidate for…[touches earpiece]…no, I didn’t know he’s not a U.S. citizen…[pauses again to listen]…no, I wasn’t going assume just because he has a Hispanic-sounding last name that…[pause]…yes, you’re right, it IS what Trump would have done.
This week’s Request Line was hosted by party boy extraordinaire Rob Gronkowski and the theme was “video games”. I’ve trimmed a few things to make the playlist flow a bit better (nobody needs to hear ten straight hours of Tetris music) but I had a lot of fun with the theme and I hope you did as well. Stick around (or fast forward your way through) for the closing track – an a cappella version of “God Only Knows” from Bioshock Infinite that randomly (and fittingly) ended up landing at the very end.

*It’s not really “neglected”, we’re using it as a hub for all our other entertainment options (Hulu, Spotify, etc.) – I’m really impressed with how versatile it is.
