Earlier this week Don T served up a touching tribute to our dear departed friend the Wee Baby Seamus. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: nobody contributed more to Request Line than tWBS did. Whether it was filling in for me when I couldn’t get my shit together, or just contributing his heart out every week, the man clearly had a lot of music in his heart. And like many great rock stars, he lived fast, loved hard, and died (relatively) young. So I thought in tribute to a year since his passing, today’s topic would be a pretty simple one: artists who left the stage tragically early. I’ll get us started with one of the most talented (and troubled) young women who ever stepped in front of a microphone.
The part that really sucks about this, they had just started. I had just really discovered them. My niece and her husband saw them live and they blew the joint up.
Riley Gale the lead singer just died last August. They had their tour cancelled by the pandemic.
Fuck.

Both Fred “Sonic” Smith and Rob Tyner died in their 40’s. Before they passed, they made sure that the jams were kicked out. Seriously, come for the “MUTHAFUCKA” and stay for the mind-boggling guitar work.

Vernon Isley was gone by the time this came out, but love this version. Specially the guitar at the end… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jkwBMO16JzM
Schubert died at 31 from either typhoid or syphilis, so this counts.

“Why not both?”
Probably the most prominent member of the “Country Music ’29’ Club”-I give you Hank Williams.

I was waiting for Hank. To combine last week’s & this week’s themes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xtolv9kM1qk
Nate Dogg had many more “featuring” appearances left.
