It was my 3rd week in a row creating 50 gpp lineups and it was my 3rd week in a row finding success with the process. What I’m looking for here is one lineup that has a chance to take down an entire contest. Now, thanks to my exposures to Higgins, Montgomery, and Justin Jackson, I cashed in every contest I entered, but here was my best, which finished 8th out of 12,000 for a nice ROI on the day:
My Best (238.2 points)
Burrow Jackson Montgomery Chase Higgins Palmer Andrews Jefferson Bears |
The One that Won it (256.9 points)
Burrow Jackson Michel Chase Higgins AB Andrews Montgomery Chiefs |
Considering the near 20 point disparity between me and first place, I will gladly take the 8th place finish.
Sometimes the best plays are the obvious ones. Oftentimes coaches will opt to attack a defense in a way other than matchups and schematics suggest. Why? I have no idea. Them and all their old boys’ club friends are smarter than I, I’m sure of it. (Was the sarcasm obvious there? I’m not sure.) That didn’t happen on Sunday though as the Bengals attacked the Ravens JV secondary (who oh by the way lost another CB yesterday) the exact same way I would have. Once I heard Johnson was going to start, I backed off this matchup a little because I didn’t think Baltimore would be competitive enough. I’m glad I stuck with some of it though as 7 of my lineups featured Burrrow with 2 of his pass catchers, and every one of them had Andrews as a run back. At over 500 yards and 5 TDs, you basically needed Burrow and Higgins to finish high.
A lot of things worked out yesterday, most importantly my core group of players, so in the essence of time and usefulness, I’ll skip to the bad calls and outright misses.
- I’m a little upset with myself for not considering Isaiah McKenzie. With both Beasley and Davis out, I should have considered a minimum priced WR3 in the Buffalo offense, but even then I would not have seen 11 receptions coming his way. He was 1% owned.
- Nevermind not seeing Sir Rexington Burkhead (1.7% owned) having a day…though the Chargers have shown themselves to be vulnerable to the run…who saw these frauds actually losing the game???
- Speaking of the Chargers, Keenan Allen saw but 6 targets. Gladly, I didn’t have much of him, but…
- I wish I played more Sun God (especially in seasonal but I digress), I just couldn’t trust it with Tim Boyle playing QB. Lesson learned, dude looks legit.
- While it was nice to see the deep TD to Decoy Metcalf, he still only had 2 catches on the day. I’m glad Seattle lost to Nick Foles and the Bears. Seattle, you have pissed off fantasy football players for too long this season, and we’ve had e-fucking-nough.
- CPatt, despite a rushing TD, was not a top DFS play on Sunday. Gage was also not featured here. The Falcons are a friggin mystery, I’m shocked they won.
- James Robinson got hurt. At 42% ownership, this is why it pays to fade chalk sometimes. In most situations I pivoted to Montgomery off Robinson and ate the Jackson chalk instead.
- Craig Reynolds has not passed Williams on the depth chart. I am sorry.
- Palmer caught a late TD, and that really saved my bacon. At $3300 it was worth the risk, but I’m not sure he was a “good call.”
The NFL regular season is rapidly coming to a close, but week 17 should feature some nice opportunities like NE pounding Jacksonville with their run game, Tom Brady & Co getting the Jets, the Chiefs v Bengals which I expect to open with a high total and likely be chalk after both teams’ performances yesterday, and the Rams vs the Baltimore defense (laughs maniacally).
That is really impressive that you cashed in every contest at this late stage of the season. That’s gotta be hard to do. Congrats!!
Apologies since this belongs in the grievances post, but:
When the Dr. Mrs. assumes that because *she* can hear and understand what she’s saying to me, that *I* can also hear and understand what she’s saying to me. Such as when I’m in a room with a space heater running, and she is downstairs.
I’m kicking myself about Mackenzie because I follow the Bills fairly closely and he is a ridiculously underused speedster with great hands. For two years (aside from special teams) he was used exclusively as an end around run guy whenever he was on the field. What a joke.
He lays it out for us to play it out! The Huggy Bear of DFS
How is it possible that these get better every week? Great read
I see that Boris has a few burner accounts now. Not that this comment is wrong at all.
