INT. RECORDING STUDIO – DAY

The recording studio at KDFO looks much as we’d remember it from the before-time, except everything seems to shimmer due to the heat in the room.  There is no evidence of the PRODUCER’s long descent into quarantine madness, or of DJ 3000’s work adding appropriately themed music to clips of Josh Hawley racing through the halls of the Capitol to avoid a bloodthirsty mob that he originally raised a fist in support of.  The PRODUCER is seated at his desk, waving himself with a manila folder. 

PRODUCER: It’s too hot today.

DJ 3000: YOU…SAID…IT…BUDDY…

PRODUCER: Why are you speaking so slowly?

DJ 3000: MY…PROCESSOR…IS…RUNNING…VERY…INEFFICIENTLY…RIGHT…NOW…

PRODUCER: Ah. Did you talk to station management about getting the air conditioning fixed?

DJ 3000: I…PUT…IN…A…REQUEST…TO…FACILITIES…AND…MAINTENANCE…

PRODUCER: And?

DJ 3000: THEY…SAID…THEY’LL…BE…HERE…ON…MONDAY…

PRODUCER: Oh, and did you hear back from Budda Baker?

DJ 3000: YES…HE…SAID…HE…CAN’T…MAKE…IT…

PRODUCER: Well that’s disappointing.  Did he say why?

DJ 3000: THE…TIRES…ON…HIS…CAR…MELTED…

PRODUCER: Oh, wow.

DJ 3000: HE…SAID…IT’S…UNSAFE…TO…DRIVE…

PRODUCER: Well, obviously.  So I guess we’re flying solo today.

DJ 3000: IT’S…TOO…HOT…TO…FLY…

PRODUCER: No, I meant…

DJ 3000: THE…AIR…IS…TOO…THIN.  THE…PLANES…CAN…NOT…REACH…THE…REQUIRED…GROUND…SPEED…TO…LIFT…OFF…

PRODUCER: …metaphorically.  This heat really slows down your reaction times too, huh?

DJ 3000: …

PRODUCER: [waits patiently]

DJ 3000: …YES.

PRODUCER: All right, well let’s try to turn some lemons into lemonade.  Let’s make today’s theme “the summer sun”.  We’re looking for songs that explicitly mention “summer” or “the sun” in their titles.  Once you’ve got the filter parameters updated, please get us started with “Cruel Summer” by Bananarama.
