Request Line: Sing-Along Anthems

INT. RECORDING STUDIO – DAY

DJ 3000′ and the PRODUCER are standing above a hospital bed where HUNTER RENFROW lays plugged into a VR simulation of a high school prom mass murder. 

PRODUCER: So, anyhow, I gotta jet.

DJ 3000′: WAIT, WHAT? 

PRODUCER: Yeah, I got a family thing.

DJ 3000′: BUT…I THOUGHT WE HAD A PLAN TO HELP HUNTER EMERGE FROM HIS VIRTUAL REALITY COMA THAT WE’D BE EXECUTING OVER A SERIES OF INTERVALS, THE END OF WHICH WOULD CONVENIENTLY COINCIDE WITH THE FIRST FOOTBALL GAME OF THE NFL SEASON.

PRODUCER: We do, we do.

DJ 3000′: MY UNDERSTANDING IS THAT EACH REQUEST LINE TOPIC I MEAN STEP OF THE PLAN IS CRITICAL AND THE ENTIRE OFFSEASON NARRATIVE RESCUE OF HUNTER RENFROW WILL BE COMPLETELY UPENDED IF IT IS OTHERWISE DISRUPTED.

PRODUCER: No, no, it’ll be fine.  We’ll just add a “bonus” episode I mean step of the plan the day after the season opener.

DJ 3000′: WELL, WE STILL HAVE TO RUN SOMETHING THIS WEEK.

PRODUCER: [grabbing his jacket] I’m sure you’ll think of something.  I’ll be back in two shakes!

The PRODUCER darts out the studio door, leaving DJ 3000′ alone in the studio with a catatonic HUNTER RENFROW.  

DJ 3000′: SHIT, I GOTTA THINK OF A TOPIC ALL BY MYSELF? I’M NOT DESIGNED FOR THIS!

An ethereal light fills the studio and a voice speaks from out of nowhere. 

MARSHAWN LYNCH: Nah dawg, you ain’t gotta think of a topic.

DJ 3000′: I DON’T?

MARSHAWN LYNCH: Nah.  The topics are already inside of you.

DJ 3000′: YOU MEAN, LIKE IN MY MEMORY BANKS?

MARSHAWN LYNCH: Chuh chuh.

DJ 3000′: DOES THAT MEAN YES?

MARSHAWN LYNCH: You been thinkin’ of topics all season long, son.

DJ 3000′: I HAVE?

MARSHAWN LYNCH: You sure have. And I think you got one more in you.

DJ 3000′: OKAY, UM…HOW ABOUT MODERN SING-ALONGS?

MARSHAWN LYNCH: Elaborate, [redacted].

DJ 3000′: SONGS THAT OUR LISTENERS CAN’T HELP BUT SING ALONG TO.  ALMOST LIKE THEY WERE DESIGNED THAT WAY.

MARSHAWN LYNCH: Chuh chuh.

DJ 3000′: IN FACT….I’VE GOT ONE TO GET US STARTED WITH.

MARSHAWN LYNCH: [nods approvingly, then disappears]

DJ 3000′: THANKS, SPIRIT GUIDE MARSHAWN LYNCH! YOU HAVE MADE ME INTO A TRUE BELIEVER.
