Fucking 4am and I can’t sleep. I tweaked my back and its killing me. I was suppose to go on vacation today…only an asshole in my company lied to a customer and told them I was available this week to give them training on an application i have never done before.
We already sold the customer the equipment. I have to magically show them how to use it.
Well I don’t have the right gear. I am literally trying to build a field circuit package from scratch for an insanely old synch motor, just to sort of show off newer equipment.
Well yesterday, I am struggling along when the asshole who lied (who by the way is suppose to be our senior tech guy and he knows fuck all about our equipment), asks how far we are.
I explain the issues we are running into and the progress made.
“Field circuit huh? Figures the mechanic would struggle with this. Oh by the way guys, I am NOT eating Mexican tonight”.
For explanation, I am a mechanical engineer, the customers are from Mexico, and our asshole tech guy expects the customers to by him diner.
The head Mexican customer mutters “qué gilipollas …” loud enough for me to notice.
I say to them all “Ten cuidado. Muchos de los empleados aquí hablan más de un idioma.”
They get a horrified look and the head boss man asks “Paul habla español?”
I reply “No. Él es un idiota.”
Paul, standing right next to me “What you guys saying?”
“I said you prefer the steak house downtown”…the customers struggle not to bust out laughing. Paul says okay and walks out of the room. I don’t see him again.
