God, look at my mind, ass over elbows into the gutter.  Yesterday provided three really compelling fixtures, and then an assault on one’s senses.  75% is a fantastic success rate, unless you are an airline pilot or some shit.

5W Creighton (+13.5) v. 1W Gonzaga (2:10, CBS)

HAWT Jesuit on Jesuit action!  Zags have yet to have their bad game (this torneo, or really all season), but I still suspect it’s coming.  But might they be good enough to win even if/when that happens?  Vegas sure thinks so.

4E Florida State (+2) v. 1E Michigan (5:00, CBS)

Scowlin’ Leonard’s bunch are the last ACC side alive, as pretty much everyone expected.  I am torn, as a (raises pale fist) Black power enthusiast.  Love Scowlin’ Leonard, but Meechigan has the guy with the “#NotNCAAProperty” shirt.  That’s pretty bad ass.  Anyway, should be a fantastic, and quite physical, matchup.

I’m conflicted. By divine right and natural order, I’m supposed to root against the Michigan Wolverines in all sporting cases. However, rooting for a team whose name and mascot (or inspiration of) represents a nation of Ingenious Persons seems too similar to Washington’s former name.

However, they are NOTREDACTEDs because the Seminole Nation of Florida is okay with it, that’s make it okay. I can’t find anything that says that “okay with it” equals “FSU pays us money for it”, and FSU celebrates the “unconquered history” of them. But that perpetuates the racist trope of the Seminole peoples as a violent group of savages instead of an unique culture that was displaced and destroyed.

Also, Washington’s logo of a stoic Native American was dark skinned and thrown out, but Florida State’s logo of a screaming Seminole is lighter skinned and acceptable. That just seems wrong.

As a (very much former) shot-blocking guy, I HATED playing against lefties. Y’all have this weird-ass timing thing (ok maybe it was my problem) that I couldn’t get used to until the game was almost over.

I’m laughing for real right now. I regularly played against an arrogant guy (that ended playing for a very good university in The Canada) that swatted a shit ton of shots into the seats. We happened to have a ton of beers together one night and at one point he said, totally frustrated, “Why The Fuck Can’t I Block Your Shot?”.
