WES WELKER: [sits in radio booth with a dazed expression]
PRODUCER: [through earpiece] Come on, Wes. Introduce the segment.
WELKER: [blinks, glances around]
PRODUCER: Shit. Connor, go in there and poke him with something.
CONNOR: [enters the radio booth and pokes WES WELKER on the shoulder]
WELKER: [turns, smiles broadly] Hey! Welcome! It looks like we’ve got a special guest here today. Everyone, say hi to Matthew McConaughey!
PRODUCER: [through earpiece] No, Wes, that’s the associate producer, Connor.
WELKER: [squinting, confused by the voice in his head] God?
PRODUCER: No, Wes, it’s me, the producer. We need you to introduce the radio segment. Just a few words, and then Connor will get a song started.
WELKER: [points] Hey! Well isn’t this a treat! Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, everybody!
PRODUCER: No, Wes, that’s just a poster of the Rolling Stones.
WELKER: Hey, would you look at that! It’s our lucky day! Looks like we’re going to be joined today by recording legend Nile Rogers!
PRODUCER: No, Wes, that’s a mop.
WELKER: [points] Hey! Looks like we’ve got a special guest! Legendary adult film star Ron Jeremy, everybody!
PRODUCER: No, Wes, that’s just Jim Tomsula. He’s…crashing here for a little bit. Just until he gets back on his feet.
WELKER: Well what do you know, folks? Detroit Lions head coach Jim Caldwell is here to spin a few yarns.
PRODUCER: No, Wes, that’s just a lamp. Wait…that’s not…[screams]

Welcome to Request Line! Today’s theme is songs about STARS. Whether that means rock stars, movie stars, or those twinkly little things in the sky is up to you. The sky’s the limit, except not really, cause you can look a lot further out into the universe if that’s your taste. I’m going to start things off with some shoegaze from a band called Kid Dakota I saw open up for Cloud Cult at the Knitting Factory almost ten years ago. Enjoy!
[…] Oh, I guess you’re right. Back in 2016. I’m impressed that you remember […]

Can’t believe no one has gotten the obvious Metallica (Orion) on the list so far:

Your fault for overestimating us.
An alternate version by Rodrigo y Gabriela. I just bought tickets yesterday to see them In San Luis Obispo in May. Great guitar work here too.
Off of Tony MacAlpine’s 2011 eponymous disc.

And if you’ve never listened to MacAlpine before, listen to him now. Buy his shit. The dude has cancer and needs the money.
Damn, that is some amazing guitar work there.
The song that got me into King’s X.

Oh CHRIST there’s another 45 minutes of this dreck.
But think, it will live on in your memory FOR EVER.

The Peacock Assault Accompanied By A Concert Pianist Bit–gotta stick with the classics!
Mr. Short Term Memory played by Wes Welker played by Tom Hanks:

TONY RANDALL! WOW!
WELKER: [Points] “Hey, looks like someone left a shop vac in the room!”
PRODUCER: [Sighs} “No Wes, that’s Ginger Lynn. She came with Tomsula.”
This works both literally and figuratively.
From Zierlein’s latest mock draft:
“Is Goff a perfect fit for Chip Kelly’s offense? To be honest, I don’t even know what a perfect fit even looks like for Kelly anymore. I just know that Goff has talent and Kelly needs a quarterback.”
White, Zierlein. He looks white.
Chip Kelly is the feces produced when arrogance eats too much narcissism.
Segway jokes HAR
I saw 30 seconds of that movie flipping through channels a few weeks back. I still feel dirty.
Why is it that when an adult has the “mind of a child” we lock them up while children are allowed to roam free?
Sitting down to KFC Spicy Nashville chicken (YAYYYYYYYYY) and a non-negotiable viewing of Paul Blart 2: The Blartening (GAHHHHHHHHH).
Having mixed emotions.
In the “bit of a stretch” category, Androsyn Guardian from Three Mile Pilot (one of my favorite bands, and some of you SoCal folks may know of them. Everything on their StarControl Out EP and Chief Assassin to the Sinister album was inspired by the game Star Control):

Ooh, that reminds me, sometime in the future we’ll do one with music from/for video games. A while back someone posted something from Borderlands that was gangbusters.
And another from the Angus soundtrack I cannot believe we haven’t gotten to yet:

Love this tune. That whole soundtrack is great.

Agreed. The Angus soundtrack is highly underrated.
Interesting note about the song – lots of its lyrics reference the Stephen King book “The Talisman”.

I’d never noticed that before. Now I like it even more.
Yeah, I don’t remember how/when I found that out, but I was pretty stoked about it.
