ALL HAIL BLEERGH.
In tribute to Bleergh, here’s the Wildcard weekend best and worst penalties. I was watching a regular season game and they were talking about how many penalties the P*ts ( I know, I know, but it was the only game I could watch) had taken and how above their average it was. Which got me thinking about whats the average and what was the best and worst penalty of the week. So, here’s a random breakdown of this weeks penalties. I’m not going to even try to find the tape for these, nor am I making any judgement call on the individual penalties. I’m sure that there are plays that should have been called and were not, and other plays where the penalty wasn’t needed, depending on your fandom.
Here are the best (in the eyes of Bleergh) penalties of the week
Team | Penalty | Result |
Dallas | Offensive Holding | This was a punt and nullified a TD. haha |
Chicago | DPI | 33 yard penalty |
Houston | DPI | 23 yard penalty |
Philadelphia | Unnecessary Roughness | 15 yard penalty |
Chicago | Unnecessary Roughness | 14 yard penalty |
Here are the worst (in the eyes of Bleergh) penalties of the week
Team | Penalty | Result |
Dallas | False start | 1 yard penalty |
Houston | Neutral Zone Infraction | 4 yard penalty |
A bunch at 5 yards |
For multiple penalties there are only 2 players this week with multiple penalties. So sad, I expected this list to be longer.
Player – Team | Number of penalties | Total yards |
K.Jackson – Houston | 2 | 28 |
R.Stanley – Baltimore | 2 | 15 |
And here’s the total number of penalties per team this weekend:
Team | Number of penalties |
Baltimore | 7 |
Chicago | 3 |
Dallas | 6 |
Houston | 8 |
Indy | 2 |
LA Chargers | 5 |
Philadelphia | 3 |
Seattle | 5 |
For an average of about 4.9 penalties per game, which is much lower than the 2018 regular season average of 8.0.
My current plan is to do these up to the Superb Owl and then start it back up for the regular season in September. So, if there is something you think i should look at or not cover or whatever left me know below. I think that this type of post will be more fun when we don’t all watch every second of each game. I plan to track the most penalized player by number of penalties and total yardage, and also the best and worst teams for penalties in the regular season.
ALL HAIL BLEERGH.
Hail Bleergh!
The bad thing about the NFL stats is that they only track penalties ACCEPTED. Penalties called would be good to look into because I strongly believe that there is at least one penalty called on every fucking drive in an NFL game.
They track penalties called and if accepted or not. Can include that too
Thanks for the report. They say the refs usually throw less penalties in the playoffs. It would be interesting to see if its true.
Unfortunately, there’s no Steelers-Bengals game this year to boost up the average.
Bengals in the Division Round?! HA!
Seriously, I think that’s true. In That Wild Card Game, the refs definitely let them play. That’s why it looks more like an organized fight. The refs lost control easily.
If that was a Regular Season game, the Bernard’s and Roethisburger’s hits gets flagged easily.
BLEERGH!!!!!!!
HIII YAAAAA!!!!!!
That is only acceptable behavior if he yelled “I’m a hemophiliac!” before delivering the kick.
Good work on this report.
Would this be actual yellow journalism?
Bleergh sees no coloUr. Only good and bad.
No, that’ll be when the NY Times releases the pee tape.
HAIL BLEERGH from whom all glory flows!
It would be interesting to track challenges while you’re at it. See how many were successful and how many resulted in points.
And then track red-headed cheerleaders. Because, you know…
I’ll add it to the list. The challenges. Think I’d be stepping on Moose’s turf with the red headed cheerleaders
I just track weird fetishes.
Fucking Vikings.
Maybe not this weird….. I have my limits.
The limit does not exist
YOU DON’T KNOW ME!!
*prolly right.
Mike Tomlin is riding an 0 for 8 Challenge Streak!
