The wife’s family on her mom’s side is a behemoth-the granny, being a good French Catholic and all, had eight (?) kids so she has tons of aunts, uncles and cousins coming out the old wazoo. They all get together the last Saturday before Christmas at a rented hall (this year it’s at an arena!) and play all sorts of games, exchange presents and do the potluck thingy. (emphasis on luck, which I’m obligated to say because my sis-in-law has called me a ‘food snob’) The well-to-do ones, after exchanging banal pleasantries will ask where/how long we’ll be staying down south, the implication being that the one that stays in the wealthier part of Florida the longest (Gawd, do Canuckians love themselves The Florida) ‘wins’. You can see the confusion on their face when I say, “I prefer Arizona”, which is the truth. Otherwise I’ve not much to say-the place I run is the largest employer in this one stoplight town and the source of much gossip so I zip it up. Still, the one thing that’s cool is when Santa shows up-I smile when I remember my (at the time) two year-old bouncing from one foot to the other in giddy expectation of seeing the present-giver. Seems like eons ago…
TO THE GAME!
Rams/Niners:
San Franny is an interesting club in that the D that terrorized opposing qb’s into a 24.1 rating when pressured (just spiking the ball gives one a 34 QBR) has now slid to 17th in the league over the last six weeks. Not so un-coincidently they sport a 3-3 mark over that span. As this is occurring the O-since Manny Sanders dropped by-has jumped from 17th to 7th in expected points per play. He gets a shadow this week in Ramsay though. Since the trade he’s been thrown at only 2.4 times per game. All is not lost because Kittle owns the Rams-the least amount of yards he’s had against them in his career is 98.
