Is Glass Always the Villain? – An Open Thread

If you watched the bowl game against Pitt last night, you may have noticed the end of the game (maybe not the wimpy east coast people who think sleep is a necessity), the QB for Eastern Michigan got a little handsy, not in the good way, with the judo chop of a couple of Pitt players.  Credit to the Pitt players who didn’t bite and retaliate.

Let me just say this:  The refs, once again, let the rules get in the way of the game being played.  Ejecting Glass sealed the fate of the Eastern Michigan team and all their 3 fans, two of which are moms of a couple of players.  And, so, the game ending really only had entertainment value when Glass threw those fists in a Rivers-esque tantrum.  Luckily for me, the casual fan who works too much, I got home and turned on the TV on the final drive where all this went down.  Those were a great 5 minutes of football.

Today’s games in the bowl schedule seem to be a little better, featuring Iowa vs USC in the Holiday Bowl.  That’s going to be fun to watch, mainly due to USC.  I’m sure they will crap the bed.

Also, there is Air Force vs Washington State.  That’s the late game, so I might be home in time to see that one.  I hope the last five minutes are as entertaining as the game yesterday.

One of them is Amari Cooper. He did nothing against Philly in a game that Dallas really needed and has either tuned the Cowboys out, is hurt, or both. I’d stay away from him.

Okay, I know I’m in the minority, but I don’t agree with Colin Kaepernick thing fully. I could go into reasons why but at this point I’d rather not pummel the deceased equine. I don’t agree with what he did and how he did, but I do agree with why he did. I concede I may be influenced by my father stopping watching NFL on a weekly basis and depriving myself of the few Sunday afternoons he has left. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t hate Kaep (my complete hatred in this clusterfuck is, like many thing, Goodell), but I just don’t like what he did.

All that being said, the fact that Antonio Brown gets a tryout with a team before Kaepernick put me in a level of anger that I’m not fully comfortable being in.

The whole point of protesting something is to piss people off, so your reaction is fine. What’s not fine is people misunderstanding why he was doing it, (HE’S DSREPECKFULL A’ THE TROOPS!!!!), and calling him a traitor and all that sort of thing.

I don’t have a problem with the NFL not giving him a job. They’re a business, and to a large extent a business that relies on keeping a bunch of mouth-breathing reactionaries happy and drunk. Putting Kaep on the roster, after 3 years of not playing, risks an economic backlash with no real reward pay-off. No business would or should do that.

AB gets a try-out because he’s still a Top 5 WR in the NFL that would help any team out. Kaep isn’t close to that.

Also the NFL is full of assholes, on the field, in the offices, and in the stands. Absolute garbage through and through and as I’ve said more than once if it wasn’t for you fine people and this site I’d probably be playing far more attention to World Chase Tag.

I am on about day five of putting up with my parents. For reasons i cannot fathom, they sold their old house and purchased one near Ocean City, Maryland…aka the white trash capital of the east coast (present honkies excluded of course).

My parents have five dogs. I am insanely allergic to dogs. At regular intervals, when I start sneezing, my mother tells me to stop being dramatic.

I was surprised they invited me up early…until i walked through the door and realized they need their fucking kitchen redone.

This is irksome because I didn’t bring any tools with me and my father has no fucking idea how to purchase the correct nails, let alone what a quality tool is and why one should pay a bit more for quality.

The current fiasco is that they purchased cabinets that don’t have full bottoms on them and my mother mandated that we use a glass tile for the backsplash. Its a fucking nightmare to use these tiles. I ended up having to get a fucking tile cutter, to which my father told me he wasn’t paying for it as I should be able to cut these tiles by hand. So tomorrow morning, I have to take down all their cabinets down and tile up even higher than I should have to. Keep in mind…I asked my parents about this three days ago. They wait until tonight to tell me they need it fixed…and I am supposed to leave in the morning.

Again…my father cannot replace a lightbulb without electrocuting himself or causing a fire so I cannot just leave the job half done because by the time I get back, chances are he will somehow end up cutting the water lines.

My parents made a big deal about giving me a check for a grand. I wish they wouldn’t do this as 1) they don’t need to give me money…and 2) I have spent far fucking more than a grand trying to fix this fucking kitchen.

I fucking can’t wait to get back to work…
