Well, it’s the final weekend of the summer. As an “essential service”, it’s back into the actual classroom. You’ve no doubt heard stories in your own region about people freaking out about cohort groups, expanded bubbles and COVID clusters. We have them here too. And while most of my colleagues are “virtual” for the month of September – teachers in school; students at home – I will have actual kids in the classroom since I work with at-risk learners that require one-to-one contact.
I have to say that I am looking forward to it.
Maybe it’s been the relative isolation I’ve lived in for the last five months, but I’ve physically dealt with relatively few groups of people since this whole thing started. I probably just need the interaction with people that aren’t my immediate family.
I went in Thursday to set up my classroom:
- ten tables – down from 15
- ten chairs – down from 30
- all the sanitation products a germophobe could ever want
- an entrance & exit plan to minimize student-to-student contact
- where to store my tea kettle & cookies – so I don’t have to use the staffroom
I’m hoping it will be quite civilized. I’m predicting that it will all be shot to hell by week two.

Jennie spots the lice!
Fuck this stupid Nest thermostat. All I want to do is turn on the fucking fan, and it can’t do it.
I turned on the house fan for a few minutes and the smoke came in, so….
I heard about rolling blackouts and I just assumed California was overrun by paraplegic Klan members!
No, just a lot of alcoholics in wheelchairs.
Come on; this joke gets it.
No, it is the LA mayor and the governor, because they engineered the capacity of the grids and the various competing commercial interests that created the system that have been constructed over the last 50+ years. You know; we need simplistic scapegoats.
Per Rikki’s comment on drinking beer quickly, I’ve busted out the vacation koozies and starting chilling pint glasses in the freezer
That reminds me. I have Tito’s vodka in the freezer
Bitch
Let’s hope she has the diabetes!
I understand the -1; this worthless meat sack is entitled to more than a -1.
I do love the technology.
To expose her assholishness.
She’s the type the says “Suck it up.” when someone’s dad died of COVID-19.
That bomber of beer did nothing for me. I need to either get into bourble or go to sleep early
Seventh largest economy in the world, technologically and socially progressive, but the California governor and L.A. mayor are so fucking corrupt and incompetent that there are rolling blackouts during a heat wave in summer. And there’s no Enron to blame this time.
“The people dying are poor, so fuck ’em.” – Newsom and Garcetti in unison
Unsurprised, I love your posts.
There weren’t any blackouts today
[pours another round of bourbon]
I’m working on it.
I’m pretty sure the mayor of LA has nothing to do with Southern California Edison calling for rolling blackouts. In fact, LADWP has not had ANY blackouts this entire year.
Also, the governor doesn’t control the state utility companies.
Bruh reach out to me seriously.
