Your “This Might Be For All The Marbles!” Sunday Night Football Open Thread

Hey, I’m writing this at 11 in the morning so I’ve no idea what happened in the Seattle tilt and I’ll be damned if I’m going to exert the slight amount of energy it would take to do some editing. That’s a line in the sand that I will not cross or even draw in the first place.

To The Game!

Lions/Packers:

-The last time these squadoos played marked a turning point for both teams. Detroit’s 15-9 win got their record to 2-6 and we know what happened from there. For the Packers that loss marked the last loss in a five game skid and they turned things around as well.

-A key to Green Bay’s turnaround has been the ability to generate turnovers. At 4-8 they were -5 but since then they’ve reached a 11+ number.

-With a Seattle loss and a Detroit win the Lions would be in the playoffs for the first time since 2016. I’d bet that like myself, you folks out there would have guessed that the drought was much longer than that.

-This could be Rodgers last game at Lambeau-if he decides to retire (a decision he will no doubt draw out as long as possible because a.) attention and b.) he learned from the very best, Burnt Favre) this is it because the team will not have a home game.

-Who thought that career backup Jamaal Williams would be just six yards shy of reaching 1,000 yards today? As well, he’s just one TD away from matching Barry Sander’s team record of 16.

-The Packers just might oblige Williams-they are in the middle of the league in overall defensive efficiency but are bottom 5 vs the run.

-That’s A Lot!: It’s hard to key on one player when Goff has the habit of spreading the ball around-he threw to 11(!) different tight ends, backs and wr’s last week.

It’s all yours.

Just got home, happy to see the Packers lost. Any little bit of light in this world should be celebrated.

Mr. Ayo

Clippers and Duval seems like the only competitive matchup on offer.

Unless Dingleberry and his roving band of seaman are as fraudulent as advertised.

Doktor Zymm

That might actually be a decent matchup, hard to count Los Gigantes out

Doktor Zymm

Dolphins/Bills could be good since it’s divisional ditto Ravens/Bengals

Mr. Ayo

Both are quite QB dependent though with neither competent starter being out there recently. But I love the optimism!

Doktor Zymm

I’m always willing to give divisional matchups the benefit of the doubt. And do we really think Tua will be out with his back problems? Lamar! is a bit more interesting, but gotta assume there are contract implications

But also, wouldn’t be super mad if it’s as shitty of a wild card weekend as last year, as long as the later weeks are as good
