Boris’ Week Two Writeup

Don’t overreact to Week One. Don’t overreact to Week One. Don’t overreact to Week One.

This is what I’ve been telling myself all week. Holy damn were there some surprises though. Tee Higgins and Drake London with zeroes?? Isaiah Likely completely failed with no Mark Andrews in the lineup?? Kadarius Toney and Skyy Moore suck??? Najee Harris is going to be useless??

There was a lot that went horribly wrong in week one, but there’s also some things that I was completely accurate on. Take the lumps, learn some things, try not to follow the herd like a lemming. If you want to check out my detailed article at Gridiron Experts that goes over ownership projections, feel free to do so by clicking here. However, let’s get into each game for Week Two’s Sunday slate!

Las Vegas @ Buffalo

  • Wow, that was some hot garbage last week Buffalo, but you SHOULD be able to bounce back against the Raaahhdas.
  • A lot of folks in suicide pools are going to pick the Bills. I’m glad I already moved on by taking the Eagles on Thursday.
  • This is another prime spot for Diggs. He shredded the Jets cover 3 and cover 4 scheme in Week One. Guess what schemes Vegas uses. And they don’t have a Sauce Gardner.
  • Josh Allen might be the highest owned QB this week. I saw a comparison recently that shows Mac Jones with a higher QB rating than Josh Allen over the last 8 or 9 games. Careful with Mr. Allen is all I can say.
  • Gabe Davis won’t be highly owned this week, James Cook and Davante Adams will.

Green Bay @ Atlanta

  • I think we’re looking at a viable tandem backfield this year. Both Bijan and Allgeier could be startable each week, though banking on them getting 3 TDs between the 3 of them every game might be a tall ask.
  • Desmond Ridder is basically the same thing as Mariota…cucca.
  • Kyle Pitts might go down in history as being the most talented athlete to be completely wasted by an organization.
  • Yes, if you drafted Drake London, be concerned.
  • Aaron Jones could miss this one which would stink because he’s their best offensive player.
  • Doubs is WR1 baby! Yes, it helps that Christian Watson is hurt though.
  • Luke Musgrave ran the most routes out of anyone on the Packers in Week One.
  • Love looks to be decent. He’s not overly flashy but he manages the offense well and protects the ball.

Baltimore @ Cincinnati

  • Burrow’s calf is bothering him still, I’m sure of it. However, he’s had some monster performances against this team and the Ravens are coming into this one with a depleted secondary.
  • Ja’Marr Chase has never had less than 10 targets in a game against the Ravens. Never.
  • I’d bet almost anything that Tee Higgins doesn’t have another zero.
  • Mark Andrews is a pain in the ass.
  • Zay Flowers, like I said, is legit, but now he’ll have ownership in DFS.
  • I truly feel bad for JK Dobbins, and I feel bad for people who think that Gus Bus and Justice Hill are the answer now.
  • The Baltimore offense is supposedly going to be more pass heavy. I’m not sure Lamar can handle it.

Chicago @ Tampa

  • We have another situation where both secondaries are limping into this one as each team has multiple DBs who will miss or play with injuries.
  • Justin Fields and his pass catchers are low owned, but you’re really banking on Fields running the ball.
  • Mike Evans was drafted too low this year, he’s still going to be fantasy viable.
  • Rachaad White looks to have ownership.
  • The Buccaneers DST might be the highest owned in DFS.

Seattle @ Detroit

  • This matchup had some serious fireworks last year in Week Four and won someone a million dollars. Not sure that will happen again though. The salaries alone might make it difficult to jam everyone in, and the Lions DST looks to be improving while Geno Smith appears to be coming back down to Earth.
  • Jaxon Smith-Njigba could see an improved role in this one. It might be tough to trust Metcalf and Lockett from week to week if Geno returns to old Geno. Also, Seattle will likely be without LT Charles Cross, so I expect Detroit to be pressuring that side of the offensive line. This could mean that Geno has to get the ball out to inside weapons more quickly, hence JSN, who plays predominantly out of the slot.
  • It looks like Walker will be owned too as DFS players gravitate to what they hope will be a fantasy rich environment.
  • Montgomery is coming in with higher ownership than Jahmyr Gibbs.
  • Amon-Ra could be the highest owned player on the slate.

Indianapolis @ Houston

  • I was spot on about the Colts’ outside CBs as the Jags attacked those matchups in Week One. Stroud showed us last week that his preferred options are Nico Collins and Bobby Trees (Robert Woods), who are the outside WRs for the Texans. They are both in another good spot this week.
  • Dameon Pierce should see more success against the Colts than he did against the Ravens.
  • Stroud has yet to throw a TD in the NFL, his first should come this week, hopefully in a short yardage situation to Dalton Schultz (shameless seasonal fantasy plug).
  • Anthony Richardson is going to do some things with his legs in this league. His performances will be erratic though.
  • What a job the organization did to eff the RB situation up huh? Evan Hull was put on IR and Deon Jackson stinks. I suppose you could do worse than Zach Moss, but I’m not expecting a slate breaking performance from either.

Kansas City @ Jacksonvile

  • Start all of the things.

Los Angeles Chargers @ Tennessee

  • Austin Ekeler may not play, which would make Joshua Kelley chalk city.
  • The Titans look prone to the deep pass yet again this year. The Chargers just so happen to be trying to throw the ball deeper this year. Mike Williams is the primary deep threat, but I wouldn’t rule out a Quentin Johnson splash play at some point.
  • The Chargers have historically been bad vs the run, so Derrick Henry makes sense.
  • DHop is the clear WR1 in this offense and should garner many a target in Nashville this year.

New York Giants @ Arizona

  • The Giants are not as bad as they showed last Sunday night.
  • Saquon is carrying some ownership, he’s likely to have a solid game.
  • No one is going near the Giants receivers this week.
  • Gmen should be another popular pick for suicide pools this week. It’ll be funny if they lose to a team that’s trying to secure a high draft pick this April.
  • James Conner is carrying a lot of ownership.
  • In Week One Zach Ertz saw 10 targets and played a lot for someone they were trying to ease into the lineup.

San Francisco @ Los Angeles Rams

  • Deebo, Aiyuk, and CMC should all carry some ownership here. George Kittle will not.
  • The Rams primary back APPEARS to be Kyren Williams. Akers did have 22 carries but half of those came after the game was in hand. He also averaged 1.3 yards per carry. Not too sure how either of them will do in this matchup though.
  • Puka Nacua is the shiny new toy in town, his ownership looks north of 12% this week.
  • The 49ers DST is the most expensive and one of the lowest owned in DFS. The 49ers defense is better than Seattle’s.

New York Jets @ Dallas Cowboys

  • The Aaron Rodgers era in New York appears to be over.

  • I think it’s actually a blessing in disguise because we all know the type of cancer that Rodgers is capable of spreading. I’m not saying that Zach Wilson is going to be better, but I can already see the story now. Rodgers was highly touted and Hard Knocks spent time fawning all over him, so now it’s the plucky Jets

and their defense that have the opportunity to be the story this season.

  • Breece Hall looks awesome. What knee injury?
  • People drafted Garrett Wilson high, and now they feel like he just took a huge hit from a fantasy point producing perspective. Just remember though that the Garrett Wilson we all fell in love with was catching passes from this very Zach Wilson last season. No one is owning him in DFS by the way.
  • This game has one of the lowest totals in Week Two and rightfully so. These are two of the best defenses in the NFL this year.
  • Tony Pollard is attracting a good amount of ownership.
  • Ceedee Lamb is attracting less, but Stefon Diggs just had a solid game against this Jets team.

Washington @ Denver

  • Much to my chagrin, Denver looks to have a tandem backfield. Javonte Williams is still the better back and the better fantasy asset, but I’m not sure it’s realized this week.
  • Stop me if this sounds familiar, but I was underwhelmed by the Broncos offense in Week One. I thought they would be a little better under Sean Payton, but I’m chalking it up to not overreacting from Week One. This offense should get better in the coming weeks, and getting Jerry Jeudy back this week will help. He’s low owned by the way.
  • Man, was I right about Brian Robinson getting the bulk of the carries for Washington. 19 to 3 was the final score between him and Antonio Gibson. Temper expectations as the Raiders produced only 61 yards on the ground against this defense.
  • The Cardinals sacked Sam Howell 6 times last Sunday and now this offensive line has to deal with Randy Gregory.

The thing that I noticed about the Falcons last year was that, even if they were behind, they didn’t abandon the run game. If you have London or Pitts, trade them after they have a good game. Arthur Smith’s gameplan is never, ever going to feature either one of them.

Hi Boris! Glad you’re back

Yup! Me too!

I think Howell will improve on yhe sacks by just throwing away. He was taking sacks that, (1) he should have just chucked out of bounds, or, (2) he was confused by the same stunts more than once.

But yeah WAS looked like dog crap in Week 1 and I don’t know enough about Rivera’s abilities except that he signed on with DaN Snyder.
