Good morning, imaginary friends. It’s 10:41 Best Coast time and the clubhouse is empty. Booooo.
Look, living through the end of American democracy as well as what appears to be what is technically called “welp, guess that’s about as far as capitalism can take us” is no reason to act all depressed. There are silver linings all over the place, especially if you look hard enough.
For instance, the Fightin’ Horatios, net-ball division (male) seem to gave gotten their shit together, bouncing back from three bad games in Maui to beat Rape/Murder U., Texas, and Gonzaga in succession. That’s good!
Or, just take a look at the featured image above. Gory, inn’it? That’s Colby Covington, an extremely overrated UFC fighter who was washed up 3 years ago. But he’s developed a character who goes full MAGA-shithead all day, every day. Last night he had Hulk Hogan, (who looks like shit, for whatever that’s worth), walk out to the ring, (soUrry, soUrry; “octagon”), with him waving an American flag as fast and hard as Hogan’s apparently failing circulatory system would allow.
Covington then proceeded to spend the next 11-12 minutes getting his ass thoroughly kicked. Trust me, that picture does not do justice to how bad he looked by the end of the fight; it was stopped because if it kept going he’d probably lose the eye. That is not an exaggeration either. Even the announcer were commenting that the type of blood that we could all see in the ring floor, on his opponent’s knee, and in general everywhere but inside Covington, was not the type of blood when usually saw in fights.
(Passers-by were surprised by the unusual amount of blood.)
So that was good. That was entertaining. That was fun!
Probably not for Colby.
So remember to look for sliver linings wherever they might be: Around a dark cloud, on a hard court in Madison Square Garden, or in a blood-stained octagon. You’ll be glad you did.
Now, get to commentin’ until the real Sunday posts show up.
