A Disappointing Thursday Night Open Thread

Disappointing? Why? Well, today was one of those days when one has their own list of things to do, plus some of the responsibilities of another fella that is off and is also being pulled left and right with other issues that come up over the course of doing business. Did I mention the heat? It reminds of that wall of hot air I experienced when I got out of the vehicle to take a good look at the Salt Lake Flats in mid-July many moons back. [end memory] The light at the end of the tunnel was, “hey, it’s Thursday, there will be a preseason game on tonight!”. And then I took a look at the game that I was half-heartedly going to preview. There’s nothing tonight because the NFL sked-makers are clowns of the highest order.

So here I go, throwing some tidbits of news at you,

Football Done Right: Matt Breida has officially retired. (he didn’t play last season) His career lasted seven seasons and 98 games and he pocketed 8.5 mil. That works out to 86,734 per game for four teams-not bad for an undrafted dude out of Georgia Southern. I’m guessing he’ll be able to play tag with his kids without the aid of a walker.

Tongue Waggers Alert: Rumor has it that Rashee Rice’s time before Roger Goodell’s Kangaroo Court Sponsored by BetMGM is scheduled for late September. Will the suspension be four, six or even eight(!) games? The best odds being given are seven games because Roger doesn’t like odd numbers.

OBJ We Hardly Knew Ya: Odell-who hasn’t played a full season in six, yes, six years has felt the need to announce that he hasn’t retired! That’s how much interest this broken-down 32 year-old is garnering as he looks for another job. Imagine how bad a wr room has to look to have him signed to a particular squadoo. Because sure as hell he’s not regarded by anyone as someone that could put their team over the top.
