It’s Thursday-Are You Prepared?

It looks as though the weather might dictate some of our actions in the near future. My neck of the woods will have some lovely windchills that will create near -40C temperatures. Others will get tons of snow and our friends on the West Coast might very well sigh more than once if there’s cloud cover. Looks like I’ll have to cancel brunch with the Dominguez-Doheny’s. 

We all have our crosses to bear.

Flotsam and Jetsam:

-John Harbaugh is no putz. Turns out that one of the delays in signing on to the Giants is that he wanted it written that he would report to ownership, not the GM. As we’ve learned from the wily Brandon Beane, shutting off communication between the coach and owner can get you a nice little gig.

-It says so much about this moribund organization (the Giants) that an older fart like 63 year-old Harbaugh has to come in and clean house. The first to see the writing on the wall was Kevin Abrams who was Assistant to the GM for the majority of his 27 year tenure there. Abram realized that he’s being sidestepped so he retired.

-If you’ve cozied up to the Mara’s you’ve pretty much got a job for life. Take the example of Head Athletic Trainer,(he’s being “reassigned”) 73 year-old Ronnie Barnes. His tenure began in 1976! He’s been at his current position since 1980. He was very close to Wellington Mara (rumor has it, so close that he visited the previous owner on his deathbed) and folks like that hang around the team forever.

-Retread Alert: OC Zac Robinson, who couldn’t figure out how to get Bijan, Drake and Kyle firing on all cylinders together has found new life at Tampa Bay. That’ll be Baker’s fourth OC in four years now.

-No Pressure: Jesses Minter has two years under his belt as a DC for the Chargers (and a bunch of stops in college) and has now been named head of the Ravens. Best of luck.

That’s it for me. I’m going out to ‘plug in my truck’. Nope, she’s not an EV, it’s just going going be that cold. How are you preparing?
