The Hiring Cycle is a Snake Eating its Tail:

Nathaniel Hackett, he of the egregious coaching tenure in Denver and then the OC of the Jets for two seasons, has been hired by the Packers as a consultant for the defense. He shoulda asked Matt Patricia how that worked out for the latter on the Pats. Once again, once you’re in the clan of NFL coaches, you can’t fail, you can only be failed by your team or unit-that’s the way it works.

Worst WR Room or Worstest?:

I’ll give you two choices. First up are the Pats: their star is DeMario Douglas, who led the unit with three TD’s! Others along for the ride are Kayshon Boutte, Ja’Lynn Polk, Kendrick Bourne and Javon Somebody. This group is so weak that many project third round rookie Kyle Williams to lead the team in most categories. And then there’s the Panthers-among the sub-standard dudes inhibiting the progress of Bryce Young is the ancient/ageless Adam Thielen, rook Tet McMillan, last year’s rook Xavier Legette, UDFA Jalen Coker and back-from-the-dead Hunter Renfrow. As a Giants fan (and Don T went thru this as well) it defies belief that a team chooses to devote so little attention/assets to that unit when it is so easy to pass these days.

Is it Really a Battle Though?”

In his first training camp foray Anthony Richardson was 4 of 11. His competition Danny Dimes went 6 of 8 (were any of the passes 5 yards beyond the line of scrimmage though?) with an INT. Did anyone tell GM Chris Ballard that there is new non-overly medicated ownership in place and that he is sitting on the hottest of stools?

Hulk Hogan/Bollea:

-If there was anyone more responsible for making Jim McMahon a billionaire I’d like to hear about it. I mean, there was that small matter of Terry undermining Jesse Ventura’s efforts to start a wrestlers union, therefore keeping salaries artificially low. His natural cartoonish charisma and McMahon’s acumen in the 80’s created an entertainment juggernaut. Was Hogan’s pay even remotely commensurate to the profits accrued? Nope. He was a tool. There’s also that N-word tirade left on his daughter’s message machine. What a tool. There was also that Deadspin court case funded by Peter Thiel. He was the tool whereby Thiel got revenge on Gawker for outing him. He was clueless about being filmed having sex. What a tool. I might be going out on a limb here but perhaps his ridiculous steroid use caused his life to end early. What a tool.
