Speaking of sexy Friday stories, did you folks hear the juicy bit about how a male prostitute tried to extort Conde Nast CFO David Geithner? Oh, you didn’t? I guess that’s probably because reputable publications aren’t touching such trash. I hope Gawker gets sued to hell and back.
Well, they took it down, which is the journalistic equivalent of trying to put toothpaste back in the tube. For what it is worth, I can’t think of one Gawker writer I like anymore apart from Magary.
I’m not even sure I like the neutered version of Magary that much, though I fucking loved him on Chopped.
Hamilton Nolan has a distinctive voice and can make me chuckle (and get me motivated!) but he’s the only one I know by name.
I can’t read that guy’s writing anymore because he makes a lot of mistakes. His environmental articles drive me crazy because of how many simple concepts and legal issues he gets wrong. I think he casts way too wide of a net and is way too cynical about everything.
That’s understandable. I suffer from a condition called “being a cynical asshole” that makes his stuff more palatable to me.
