Your “Are You Not Entertained? Wadda Ya Mean, ‘Kinda’?” Monday Night Football Open Thread

The NFL had a hell of a task on its hands yesterday-to attempt to make us forget about the previous few miserable days. In a remarkable upset, I think they actually pulled it off. Will wonders never cease! By my count there were 10 games decided by 9 points or less. No, the NFL isn’t “back!” nor do I have its back but baby steps, right? And judging by the overall mood of the comments yesterday in the threads I think folks here are in general agreement that the day was a good one. The big question* now is of course-can the Mighty New York Giants beat the blasted Bengals tonight? TO THE GAME!

Cincy/NYG-Qb’s Dalton and Manning are mirror images of each other (okay, maybe if you were wearing rose-coloured glasses while peeking at The Red Rifle) in that they can surprise the hell out of you at any given time with competent/incompetent play. They also have access to an All-World wide receiver that has a habit of bailing them out of bad decisions and long third down situations. The Bengals need this one to keep pace with the Ravens/Steelers in an AFC North division that is so sluggish it may as well be the 405 during rush hour. (for my SoCal friends) There are wingnut Giants fans out there that think that they can still win the NFC East. Wow. It takes all kinds I guess. With a win they would be the sixth seed however and there is little to no room for mistakes because the Redacteds and Eagles are right there. We may just have another watchable game on our hands. So sit back, tear open a juice box, and pour some vodka in there-there’s some tube-watchin’ to do!

As always, TYPE LIKE IT MATTERS!

I don’t have HBO Go anymore (womp womp), and the original Westworld scared the living piss out of me as a kid. Ergo, I hope I’ll get to see the series at some point. Hell, I watched The Sopranos three years after it ended, and Rome a decade after the fact. Anyway, despite his thoughts on climate change, Michael Chrichton knew how to tell a story.

LemonJello

I have a “free trial” run of HBO – is there a way I can catch up on Westworld, or should I just wait until its streaming so I can binge the whole thing?

Unsurprised

It’s 7 episodes in (of 10). So you can do it now or wait a few weeks and binge the whole thing.

For those who may be interested, you have my full endorsement to see Arrival.

If not watch episode 7 of Westworld.

There will be a pop quiz in the morning.

Unsurprised

I hate fan theories with all my heart, so I was genuinely surprised by the reveal last night.

Brocky

I saw a clip of the west world movie about 15 years ago, and never thought of it again until the new show.

Good enough?

Brick Meathook

Yul Brynner is great in Westworld.

blackroseMD1

Last night’s Westworld was pretty damn great.

Existential dread brings out the best in us, apparently.

on the estate thing:

to reiterate what others said, its fine to vent. it’s healthy, and always better out than in.

nomonkeyfun

That’s what she said.

Sharkbait

I lost by less than a point for the second time this season in one of my leagues. Partial points suck.

Eli gets his juice box (sugar free at this time of night), but he has to brush his teeth and go straight to bed, no reading comic books under the covers!

Gratliff

Oh shit! Broken Grat Hardy finally wins a fantasy matchup thanks to DTZM being marginally more terrible!

I pretty much “square rooted” my opponent.

(If you squared my points I would almost… have a win)

Ben McAdoo looks like he fell asleep on the team bus and the veterans gave him a rookie haircut.

There is no way he pays for that right? His wife cuts his hair…and by “wife” I mean unhinged homeless person high on bath salts.

Croooow

Ben McAdoo looks like someone who spends all day on the lawn chair telling everyone who will listen about that time he scored a touchdown in high school 23 years ago.

JustStopDude

Definitely a guy that opens his mail at the weird smelling bowling alley that sells beer before noon.

Sharkbait

Am I the only one around here who would be scared shitless if Samuel L. Jackson was waiting for me in the back of my car?

BrettFavresColonoscopy

I didn’t think anyone saw Black Snake Moan

Even the most nonthreatening person alive can scare you if they pop up in your backseat when you’re not expecting it.

This is true. The most harmless people imaginable have managed to scare the shit out of me in my time on this stupid mud ball
