The Westminster Dog Show from MSG was last night. I should have included it in the previews, because I know three hours of dog porn appeals to many of the commentists.
I’ve got broadcaster issues I’ll rant about tomorrow, but for right now I’d like to regale you with photos of the winners.
This is Mephisto the Boxer.
She won the Working Group, stealing the title from my personal favourite, Tag the Bernese Mountain Dog.

A Norwegian Elkhound, she won the hound group.
There were other acceptable Terrier & Sporting winners,
and the insufferable Non-sporting & Toy winners.
But the big winner was Rumor the German Shepherd, who won the Herding Group along the way to taking “Best In Show”.
That’s a beautiful girl.
Plus, since I’ve been married almost 18 years, a night in with leftovers, cake & a dog show made for a very pleasant Valentine’s Day with the missus. Something fancier would get her to thinking I’ve done something, and I’m too settled to move.
Afterwards, we then watched “Best In Show”.

Shit. I just remembered that about the only three things I can cook with any actual decency are: chili (I won an award in Philadelphia!), pasta sauce, and soup.
Okay, yeah right, you got a recipe for a decent soup? It’s February, it’s cold (well, supposedly so), and I need some advice.
ARMENIAN MEATBALL SOUP
1 ½ # ground beef
Handful of bulgur wheat
1 medium onion
Garlic powder
Black pepper
Basil
Milk
1 C rice
15oz can of tomato sauce
5-6 C water
6 tsp beef bouillon
1-1 ½ # mixed vegetables
Put ground beef, bulgur wheat, 1 ½ tsp of garlic, ¼ tsp of black pepper, chopped onion and 2-3 tablespoons of milk in a large bowl. Mix well. Then make bite-size meatballs place them in a single layer in a 9 x12 baking dish. Cook for 20 minutes at 350 degrees.
Drain fat from meatballs and place in large pot. Add tomato sauce, water, bouillon, vegetables, rice, ¼ tsp of pepper, 1 tsp of garlic and 1-2 tsp of basil. Bring to boil and simmer for 20 minutes.
That is the dumbed down recipe we give when we serve it at volunteer events, It is pretty close. Season to your liking and fucking let the thing simmer.
Does it have a sauce or a gravy or do you just drop it on a piece of bread-pita-naan along with some yogurt sauce and throw the fuck down?
Because that would be delicious.
Double the tomato sauce and it gets thick pretty quick. You want some bread with it. Even the normal recipe it gets that way if you let it simmer for too long. So my answer is it is a heavy soup
